i think i've also heard onions and grapes aren't good for animals... i forget for which, but i seem to remember hearing that somewhere.

the thing that amazed me is that stores sell these plants at Christmas time with no warning label that it can kill an animal. Alot of people in my neighborhood have dogs. I didn't want someone to lose their best pal at Christmas.

I think the Christmas plants should have warnings not only for animals , but also young children as well.
I BELIEVE IN SAFETY FIRST!
Even though I am single I am around other people's kids and animals and care about other people's safety and well being.

I agree we had a local plant"expert" claiming that poinsettias are not poisonous he claimed it to be a myth. I check Cornell university's web site and lo and behold the plant is poisonous to pets and young children. I emailed the TV station with the link to correct them

THIS YEAR I LEFT MY POINSETTIA IN THE STORE , SO I COULD KEEP MY NEICE & NEPHEW SAFE. THEY ARE 8 & 6

I was in horticulture for a year and a half. the best advice i can give you is if you don't know what it is get it out of the area where your pets stay. look the plant up , determine whether it is a risk to your pet, and act accordingly. You would probably be amazed at how many houseplants out there are poisionous. A good place to put plants is on top of the fridge, make it difficulft for pets to get up there. Keep the plants in a shut room behind closed doors, whatever it takes to keep your pet safe.

About 6 raisons are anough to kill even alarge dog, sad world isn't it? I always ask at the garden cnetre before I but new plants for outdoors even as my fubabies are important to us all.
