I have been diagnosed with lympedema 13 years ago. It is a condition that makes certain part of the body to swell up due to fluid retention. I am 28 years old. This condition has caused so much change in my life. I am actual finding it hard to deal with. Career change, heart broken.... I feel like it has taken life away from me. I keep fighting the negative emotions but i dont win all the time. It is hard to live with a chronic disease especially when you are young and pain gets you down. I feel so empty, i have this void within me that i try to fight all the time. It is so difficult to give my heart to anyone again after what i have gone through. Besides i have a condition that depresses me,who will stand by you when you feel sad most of the times. And when your feet and legs are swollen and you go through pain. I am so scared of ending up alone. I feel so lonely even when there are people around me.
I have put this up before on this page, I will appreciate your input again. This is real eating me up. I have exams coming up in 5 days time and i am finding it hard to keep myself together.
Thank you for listening
Hi Annery, i'm sorry for you are feeling down. You did feel like this last October, i know this because i just joined this group a few days ago and found your message from back then, although i didn't realise it was an oldish post.
Besides keeping ur mind sharp with ebooks and podcats or however u like to learn, cause there is so much material out there to steer clear from depression. Have u also considered a really good work out program or joining a gym. Now given, I have no idea what u look like, because I have not seen ur phot, but for a person who suffers from depression, eating a strict diet filled with proper nutrition and having a family at a gym like setting can help so so much! Also do u get into the sun light often? I moved from minnestoa to southern California and my depression melted away in 9 months with no medication. Up north I had depression for several years and no one was helping either. This is what has helped me. And keep talking to people Ll the time. Never soclude urself alone and then feel sorry for urself. That will make everything worse and then it will turn into a panic attack. Let me know if what I have said has helped.

It's gonna get better. Hugs. Can u do some cardio? It's so good for the body. I missed my cardio in the last 3 days and now I feel just horrible. I know the body demands it!
Thanks alot for listening that helps. Have been feeling better lately. I do something that is so weird. I talk to myself and tell myself the whole story over and over again and pretend it is someone listening to me. I will say over and over why i am bitter, why i am sad. What changes the condition has brought upon my life. I do that since no one around me seems to understand. I talk to myself and cry. The feeling of sadness is slowly going away but not completely. Although i feel alone i do not dig myself into self pity anymore. May be i am on the road to recovery. I just do not want to be depressed for the rest of my life it is a feeling i try to fight all the time . I am walking towards a positive attitude, kinda of hard but i am getting there
You are getting there! Try to write down affirmations and tell urself good things. That is more powerful then to tell urself bad things. Yes self pity is so hard on a person. I can tell ur going in the right direction! Fill ur mind with only good things coming out of ur mouth. It's so important. Yes it is not easy and no one is perfect. Not even close. We all keep trying to feel better and better and full of joy all the time. And continue to stay grateful for everything u have. That will also bring more blessings into ur life. A very big secret in life that not a lot of people are aware of.
Blessings!

Thanks Tyler, it is an interesting journey and i have taken my first step. I think i do really needed to do that, talk to myself about the problem because i lived in denial for too long. The next step is now to say only good things to me,thanks for suggesting this . In the past i will be overwhelmed by sad emotions that literally took me over and did'nt know what to do , all i did was cry. I am glad i am stepping away from that. My next step like you said is to say good things to me. It has to come from with. I am beautiful, i am kind, i am talented, i have great friends who stand by me, i have access to internet where i can share and grow , lymphedema does not have me,i have lympedema.... and the list goes on. I will take it one step at a time , but i will definately get there. Living with a chronic condition when you are young is so hard, but well i cannot put my life on hold just because of that. For the past three years i feel like i have been existing and not living it is never too late to work on my attitudes towards life.
Please help me through my journey. Your suggestions are mostly welcomed
Walking through some of life's experience to get to a place called acceptance can be hard.
It sounds like you have some situational depression that springs your current medical situation.
It is good to read your comments and see that you have worked through some of this and are at a higher level of resolution.
When feelings frighten us, we can tell ourselves something positive as you have been doing.
FEAR...False Evidence Appearing Real. I like that one.
I usually say, this too shall pass.
Try not to set your future intent by thinking that you will have this medical condition for the rest of your life.
Solutions and miracles do happen...open yourself to receive the very best life has to offer.
Be kind and gentle with yourself.
You will get there, you ARE getting there.
I forget to mention this.
Instead of thinking ...how could anyone every be attracted to you with your physical symptoms from this condition ?....think and open to the fact that there are many people out there that would see past this and not let it factor in when they view who you really are and choose to be with you..
When the desired situation does finally arrive, I think to myself...what a goose you are, Elizabeth...look at all that energy you spent worrying about something that became a very minor issue that automatically resolved itself because of how perfectly my heart's desires are satisfied and fulfilled.
I really like my avatar.
When I feel overwhelmed, I work on feeling myself surrender. When I fight against something, when I fill myself with ...oh noooo...how can this ever, ever work out....or I must change this immediately and make it go the way I need it to go...I picture myself with arms outstretched leaning into the future and surrendering...letting go.
It feels so good to let go of controlling the outcome, especially when it involves wanting to make someone feel the way you need them to.
In your mind, picture yourself on the top of a beautiful mountain.
Feel the wind blowing against you.
Hold your arms out to your sides.
Feel the wind support you, holding you up... lean into it....then feel yourself surrender...what a beautiful place to be.
When I surrender I allow the universe to send me solutions that are perfect for me.
I know what I want...so in my knowing....I let go and surrender.
I am always pleasantly surprised what lovely solutions and gifts come my way...
Today I have been fighting against something. Thank you for helping me set myself onto a much more beneficial thought pattern.
Anyway, i did respond it to it, here:
