Hello. I hope that everyone is doing well today. I am very happy to see new people in the group and I am pleased that we are being so supportive of them--that is totally awesome.
I always feel like I am going to tea with you all when we meet here and I feel so priviledged to be around such learned and sophisticated folk. I grew up at Ole Miss, so I've gotten a taste of overseas but I haven't ever been there. I have two sisters who have been to England and a brother whose been to the Eastern Bloc and Asia but I have always been stateside, pretty much.
So things are moving foward and my family now has a new place to live and the new place is a simplified residence which is good for my husband who has ADD and for myself and my boy who have AHHD. The only issue is that we have a lot of stuff and not a lot of space, but that's okay. When I say this place is clean you all, I mean clean.
Well, work is weird as usual. Some "suits" were hanging out in the lobby and the local snitch is out on patrol, so yeah, its the 2014 version of "In the Heat of the Night" just smoother is all, without the horrific BITE of the southern drawl. Anyway......look that TV show up and yes, you will see how Mississippi culture is.
Hi Cate,
Sounds like a positive move for you all. Did you suspect you had adhd? I suppose a diagnosis helps you understand certain behaviours.
I've had a nice day. It's the first anniversary of my dad passing away. I took mom to Romsey Abbey, we lit candles. Then did a little shopping before the rest of my family arrived and we planted a tree in memory of pops. Putting some of his ashes in there. The build up to the day was worse than the day itself.
Took the dogs out for a nice stroll tonight. There's quite a group of us now who meet up and all the dogs play together... good fun! all different breeds.
Dearest carolin is working. Kathy on holiday.
Hope everyone else is doing ok. I love to hear from you all xxx
Hey Cate, I am not sophisticated. I grew up in Hillybilly, Indiana! The towns I grew up in most of the time had 1 stop light/sign and that's it! Just too funny sometimes. I miss those types of places and yet at the same time I don't. I miss the connection you have with the people there but don't miss the everyone knows your business and your parents knew what you were doing before you got home. I hated that deal of the small town life. How was it to grow up in and around Ole Miss? I actually thought about going to graduate school there!
I bet your thrilled to have this information about you having ADHD. I bet it will help you to get a better understanding of your behaviors. I know that with my diagnoses (will post a post later on them), I can now better understand myself on a personal level.
Daisy, I hope that your doing well. That you have had time to settle down. The first anniversary is always the hardest. My sister died in spring of 2002 and I remember her every year. That first anniversary, I was in TEARS! People thought I was nuts. March 6th and 12th is the hardest for me every year. My sister passed on the 6th and we buried her on the 12th. It sucked a lot. Since time has went by, it has gotten easier to remember the good things about her. She had a lot of brain damage and wasn't the typical 21 year old. I still feel guilty about her dying. Not much I could have done. I still go and make sure everything is off in the kitchen a ton of times before I go to sleep at night. Again this is another post for a later time. Just hang in there and know that worst memories do start to subside (meaning the death and burial) with time and the good memories start to come out stronger.
