This group is for people (particularly stay at home moms) who recently moved to a new State and are finding it hard to fit in. Its hard to adjust, make new acquaintances, get around town etc.
Im a 42yo sahm (stay at home mom) of 3. They're all in school so I'm home alone all day. We recently moved from the city in another state to what I consider the country. There's nothing but corn stalks, deer, crows, snakes. It's an up-and-coming suburb and very diverse people of all ethnicities and backgrounds however everyone here stays to themselves. I'm not used to this type of living! People come outside to mow their lawn, water their lawn, wash their cars or walk their dogs. When we moved into the house no one welcome dust into the neighborhood or anything people really stay to themselves.
I left familiarity and comfortability for my children so that they can grow up around a diverse group of people and go to a diverse school and take part in programs that their other school did not offer. However I don't think I counted the cost as far as I was concerned. We moved an hour away from her friends and family and people make it seem as though we have moved to the other side of the globe. They do not come visit unless we are having a party, these are people I consider close friends and I feel that I've been left alone. I understand that I am a stay-at-home mom and half of them are stay-at-home mothers to who have younger children then mine however I don't get a text, or a phone call or a hey how are you, nothing! I understand that I could be putting a lot on my friends however I'd like to think that I treat people the way I want to be treated. If the shoe was on the other foot and they moved an hour away I would go visit. Ima texter, I reach out to people just because they've crossed my mind and I don't get reached out to.
Because I'm home all day by myself I do spend a lot of time thinking about this situation and it has gotten to a point where I'm angry. I'm not good at making new friends especially at my age it's hard to make new friends at 42 years old but I have mentioned this to them and I get a little pat on my back it's okay you're over exaggerating, we have things to do,we have a life too type of thing. I'm not a people person I get close to people and I don't like surface relationships so the people that I am close to are more like family than friends but perhaps I put too much emphasis on friendship.
