For people who suffer anxiety at the work place and fear co-workers, bosses, and who assume the worst will happen

I got an email yesterday afternoon from the Human Resources person that handled the "incident" of my letter to the co-workers.She asked me to call her for a meeting. Since I live very close to the school I teach at, I simply drove straight over. It turned out that one of the people I have problems with "isn't quite ready" to work on something with me, so was I willing to step aside from that particular committee for the year? It would have made things escalate again if I refused to do so, plus who needs extra work if you don't have to do it, so I agreed to step aside for the year. It bugs me though that people continue to get treated in "special" ways. If I tried to do something similar I'd have been told I just have to deal with it. I was glad it was nothing more serious, but for that brief time I didn't know what she wanted to talk about all the panic, anxiety and depression came right back, as if my life were spinning totally out of control like I always knew would happen, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. It then took some time to feel back on track. I really need to keep my job life as stress free as possible. A lot of my symptoms seem to run in my family, and I have relatives who had other people willing to take care of them because they really couldn't work. I on the other hand have had to work all my life, long before I understood about anxiety and panic. Poeple sometimes say I'm a "survivor," but I say big deal. OK, done with rant. Input welcome.

I am glad you got back on track! Well done!

Thanks, gabpaul! Tomorrow is a dept. meeting I should go to as the dean will be there. Not looking forward to having to sit with these people for two hours, and anxious over what might be said. It's amazing how toxic a simple thing like a meeting can seem.

Sending good thoughts for your meeting tomorrow. I hope everything goes well.

Thanks so much, Sensitive!

The meeting went well, no problems. The dean was there, which helped a lot. I think I may actually be able to stop worrying about all this, though doubtless new things will come up.

Good to hear! Don't anticipate the new stuff...nor dwell on the past. Easier said than done, I know I know.

Thanks, very good advice.

Mom and I have errands to run this morning. She said we can get sushi for lunch though. I go back to work today. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Quick, before the evil MONday gets here! Let's climb those mountains, dance in the meadows, dip our feet in the ocean....Okay, so most of us won't be doing any of That. Sadly. But today can still be a great day!The area behind our back fence is on an incline, with less than two feet on even ground at the top. I don't balance well enough for the incline, but our mower guy mows that...
