A group where people can discuss Jehovah Witnesses or Christianity. I want to discuss the choice and the problems one can expect when couples are unevenly yoked.
To make a lonng story short, I have had contact with the Witnesses since I was in 9th grade. I am now 36. At one point in 1994, I was an unbaptized publisher, 5 months from baptism. There has been a lot of opposition in my life regarding continuing my study. Now, my husband is not opposed, however we live with his grandmother...and she would be seriously opposed. She is a devout baptist. Other family members are also opposed. We also have custody of my husband's kids...and though he isn't opposed to my beliefs and will discuss them with me, he doesn't want the kids to be exposed to my beliefs at this point. So, my problem is this....I want to continue my study but I cannot have a conventional one. It would need to be by mail, email, or instant messenger. Grandma could very well kick the whole family out. My husband and I are both unemployed so I really want to be careful. I tried to have a study with a sister in my area via the computer...she said the brothers would accept an online study...but when I informed her that I would do as my husband asked and not expose the children to my beliefs....which would mean taking part, to a degree, in holiday celebrations....she stopped talking to me. This all feels so confusing. I hope I am making sense. If anyone has any suggestions about continuing my study, please respond. If you are going to bash me for my beliefs, don't bother. Thanks for reading.
Jehovah is drawing you and it is so wonderful you have the hunger and desire to grow and learn spiritually. Please get back to studying I will pray for the right sister to help you, one that won't quit.If you do have any problems with who you study with please ask the elders to set you up with a new person, it is so important that you get the truth. You need this. Please don't give up.If you don't get a study going soon I will find someone for you here to do an online study with.I am so proud of you for your efforts and for not giving up!!! I am sure Jehovah sees this and is pleased as well. You go girl !!!! Keep on keeping on !!!! The devil goes about like a lion seeking those whom he can devour please don't let him devour you !
Funny thing is, the sister that quit was an elder's wife.....that was very discouraging to me. I sent the letter to the same KH yesterday...so if that elder happens to get it, I have no idea what will happen, as his wife is the one that quit.
wow, she probably just has too much on her plate.I wouldn't worry about it, all that matters is what Jehovah thinks and wants and I am sure Jehovah wants you in His word and truth. We are all human and we all mess up sometimes even the elders and elders wife. Please don't ever give up on seeking to learn and grow in the truth.People can get in the way, but God can make a way when there seems to be no way.Remain in His word , seek and you will find.I pray you can get into a better living arrangement soon so that you can study more easily. One day at a time, one problem at a time. These last days are critical times hard to deal with.I would like to share this verse with you for today.- More than all else that is to be guarded, safeguard your heart, for out of it are the sources of life. Prov.4:23- I would like to encourage you to try hard not to lose focus on continuing to take in the knowledge ( accurate knowledge ) of the truth. I understand that you face much opposition in your family , so please remember in the congregation you will gain numerous spiritual brothers and sisters and mothers and children. So please try to hang in there for we have good news of something better !!! Just pray "give us this day our daily bread " Matt. 6:11 and see if you are not provided your spiritual food.I love you sister, if you have any questions or topic I can help you with I would be very happy to.Take care, love,Lydia
I agree that the elder's wife has much on her plate. I also think she backed off because I questioned her about respecting my husband's wishes to not expose the children to my beliefs and, therefore, taking part in holidays to a degree as he has asked me to do. She didn't like that. She basically told me that I had to take a stand (and therefore, alienate my husband and the children which I refused to do.). My husband and I have an understanding that we can both live with. I can have my beliefs and even practice them. He knows how I feel, he knows what I believe about holiday celebrations, he knows how important Jehovah is to me...and I know that he doesn't want to expose the children to my beliefs until they are older and can make their own choices. I'm okay and he is okay....but it seems that others aren't okay with our comfort level.
Thanks for listening to me ramble...

Well these sisters that have been in the truth a long long time have a lot of strength and if it came to choosing truth over a husband they would do that. She needs to realize that you are not at that place, and may never be.She don't have the right to make that demand of you, either. It is her job only to teach, and love, and nothing more. She is not to judge or pass sentence either. It is OK for a JW to be married to an unbeliever, and the goings on in your marriage are really none of their business, to be rather blunt.I would suggest that you just not discuss what you do in private at home with them.Jehovah accepts you, loves you and is calling you, and that is all that counts, your love for Jehovah and His for you, go to Him, go to Jehovah, he is to be found in the Kingdom Hall sweet friend.
