Hi...I'm new to this site and a woman in my resolve group told me about this. How wonderful to find a group with other women going through similar situations. After a recent m/c and then a BFN, I need to use a donor for my next cycle and money is getting to be a huge factor as my insurance covers nothing. My RE (in L.A. county..he has about 50 donors) does do shared donors but so far, his current patients are all using their own eggs. He has had patients share donors in the past sucessfully. I was wondering if anyone on this site is in the same quandry...needing to use DEs but will be going into debt to do so and would be willing to share. I'm really flexible as to donor selection and if your RE has his/her own donors, that's fine too. Thanks so much and good luck to everyone.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a loss back in January and I know the grief all too well.
The program I am in organizes the shared donors, so you do not have to find someone to share. There are different fees for sharing with one or two other donors. I am not sure if you have one of these programs in your area, but it makes it easier to share knowing the facility is taking care of it. There are also Shared Risk programs with money back options. We had a recent post on here with some info./advise on these programs. Maybe you will find someone on here in your same situation...you never know how things will work out. I am looking at possibly doing a shared cycle in dec. with a donor that just had 43 eggs retrived last week.we are waiting for the fertilization report for RE to decide if we should do it.if not then we are on a waiting list for donor embryos leftover from other couples cycles that have already been sucessful. the cost on the second option is very reasonable, only the cost of the transfer.

hi and welcome. i'm in the same program as clynmomtobe so i shared with one other donor (through my re) but it worked! good luck finding someone to share with and definitely ask your re if it's possible for them to arrange the sharing for you. that's probably the simplest thing you could do. good luck.

Sorry to say that I do not know much about he shared donor program. But, I wanted to welcome you to the group. As ClynMomtoBe said in her reply, you have come to the right place. I heard from RE office today. the donor had 43 eggs, 37 mature,transfered 2 blasts, 29 frozen embryos. they want to wait until early january to cycle again and will talk to her next week when she comes in for her post ER appt.

I just wanted to thank you all for your welcomes. It is wonderful finding a group that specifically deals with DEs. My Resolve group is great but most of the women are doing IUIs or IVFs with their own eggs. As for me, my RE does do shared donors but the nurses have to find another patient using DEs who's willing to share and so far, no one wants to do so. So I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just pay for it all on my own. We shall see. Good luck to everyone too! BTW, has anyone heard of someone using a donor, having a child but not being able to have a 2nd child with the rest of the embryos and so, either a 2nd donor is needed or the 1st donor has to be used again?

i havent heard of it, but i can imagine that it happens. if my finace will ever agree to have another one, i'm going to have to do one of those since i didnt have any embryos to freeze.
