My husband and I are about to begin our donor selection process in the next week or two. A friend of ours, is seriously considering donating her eggs to us, but we also have the option through our clinic to select an anonymous donor. I know that there are pros and cons to both options, but I want to hear from anyone who has used a donor. Did you use the eggs of someone you know? This girl is smart, very outgoing and has a great personality, and she is pretty. My husband likes the idea of knowing our donor because with anonymous, we will not be able to see what the donor looks like. This is less important to me, but I have to admit that it would be nice to see what she looks like. I like the idea because we trust her and wouldn't have to worry about whether she is truthful about medical issues in her family and other things.

I am concerned that she may some day come to regret the decision or not be able to have children of her own. Will I always feel indebted to her even though we will compensate her for her time. Will she always feel like the child is hers? I guess it scares me a little.

With anonymous there are plenty of things that I am worried about, but one thing I know is that I won't have to worry about feeling like any child conceived this way is less mine because I will have never even met the person. I'm not sure if this really makes sense, but it's been on my mind a lot.
