My name is Kim (I'm 44) and my symptoms started 3 months ago, although I think back and some of them were just one thing here and one thing there so I never paid any mind to them. Then 3 months ago they just hit me all at once....
headache/pressure/24/7 but more like a dull headache not severe
lightheaded/swaying/balance
nausea
stuttering
eyes/floaters/rain/blurred vision/pressure
ears/pressure/clicking/ringing
jaw pain/pressure
hands coordination/always dropping things/tremors
all of my fingertips were numb
all over body twitching
forgetful/fog/short term mem loss/mood swings
sleep paralysis/insomnia
restless leg syndrome
neck pain/pressure/stiff/popping
gagging/trouble swallowing
choking on liquids like everday
clicking/ticking at base of skull ONLY when climbing stairs
scalp/itchy/like bugs crawling
hot flashes/cold sweats
BP changes/up and down
extreme fatigue/can't get out of bed til 5 in the eve. most days
frequent daily hiccups
mentrual cycle changes
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of right now......Started with GP and all tests were fine, ENT exam was fine, MRI was normal, blood work was normal, eye exam was normal, CT scan was normal, EKG was normal, 28hest x-ray was normal...I was getting tired of doctor hopping and beginning to think I was losing my mind or having some kind of a nervous breakdown!....Then for about a week my headaches started to change in intensity....they were becoming unbearable. I told hubby to take me to Urgent Care and when the nurse took my BP is was 210 over 128...I about fainted....I told her I've never had high BP or even a migraine headache ever....She rushed to get the doctor and he though I may stroke out at any minute so they sent me right to the hospital. All my tests they did there too were coming back fine so they decided to do the LP and that's where they noticed I had an opening pressure of 28. She drained 4 tubes of spinal fluid and I could instantly feel the pressure in my head being relieved! So she thought that I prob had PTC.. When I went to follow up with my neurologist she acted as if she didn't believe the findings and wanted me to go have another LP right away. Really! How much could the pressure change in a weeks time anyway! So I am now going to go see a neurosurgeon who specializes in PTC, take him all my films and see what he thinks. The bad thing is I am a school bus driver and school starts end of August and I don't think they will have this figured out by then. I need to work, I have to work. We need the money, but the doc won't release me to return to work until I am no longer symptomatic. They don't want me driving kids around while I'm still lightheaded and off balance! What a nightmare this has been. My husband has lost interest, my kids want their mom back....I just don't feel like doing anything but sleep and lay around....That's not a quality life for anyone!
