Prayer:
Father God, Your Word I want to hide in my heart, so I want sin against You or anyone. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path each and every day. I enjoy reading Your Word. I desire to know Your Word more as I read and study it; bless me/us to meditate on Your Word more. As I/we study this lesson please bless my/our memory to absorb it with gladness in my/our hearts. Father God, bless our minds to think on good things every day. Help us to live a righteous life before You all the time. Holy Spirit, teach us the importance of meditating on God’s Word in our hearts these days. Father God, bless more and more to receive You as their Savior today, in Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
Lesson: “Scriptures on Meditation”
It is in the Bible to mediate on God’s Word. We can gain so much by sitting aside a time to just bathe in God’s Word. When we do, we find pleasure and joy with peace in our hearts. When you meditate on God’s Word, “scriptures,” suddenly you will see something entirely different than the world sees. While they see drought, you see rivers. While they look at famine, you see feast. While they look at financial collapse, you see the riches of THE BLESSING. You have to meditate on the scriptures to get this in your spiritual heart. Here are some scriptures as proof of meditating on God’s Word. Think on these scriptures as Philippians 4:8 encourage us to think on good things, amen. A saying from Kenneth Copeland. “I’m not saying all your circumstances will change overnight. It often takes time for the manifestation of THE BLESSING to become visible in this natural realm. But you can still “see” it—because you don’t really see with your physical eyes. I don’t either. You see with your mind. Your brain collects information and turns it into images in your soul. Then you interpret those images and decide what to do with them;”
Psalms 1:1-6 - Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Let’s take a look at some Scripture now:
Psalms 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalms 49:3 - My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart [shall be] of understanding.
Psalms 63:6 - When I remember thee upon my bed, [and] meditate on thee in the [night] watches.
Psalms 104:34 - My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Psalms 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalms 119:15 - I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
Psalms 119:97 - MEM. O how love I thy law! it [is] my meditation all the day.
Psalms 119:97-99 - MEM. O how love I thy law! it [is] my meditation all the day.
Psalms 119:127 - Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
Proverbs 4:20-22 – “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings
Isaiah 26:3 - Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.
Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
Reading God’s Word can help develop your mind:
Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Paul says that by the renewing of our minds, we are transformed. When we take this seriously, the way we allow our minds to be programmed will make the difference between two alternative outcomes:
(a) We are conformed to the world, pressed into the mold of the world, or
(b) We are transformed to live beyond the world.
The Holy Spirit has chosen to achieve the transformation of the believer through the process of renewing his/her mind. The outer transformation of what we become is effected by the inner transformation of our mind.
The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to transform us-changing the way we think through the input of the Scripture. To be renewed means that you jettison old thoughts and replace them with new ones. HALLELUJAH!
You gain a new way of thinking through the renewal process-it happens when you input God’s Word into your heart and mind.
Our minds are far more important than we are often led to believe. God’s priority for our mind is that it be devoted and dedicated to Him, disciplined and determined and discerning about what it does in our life. Pump God’s Word into your mind! As you do, it will begin to change the way you think-and the way you function. You will literally move more and more into the mind of Christ. Fill your mind with the kind of truth that will help you in the craziness of our generation, in the problems that we face. Program your mind with God’s truth so that no matter what happen, you have the mind of Christ. And you’ll find that God does wonderful things in your life! I am a witness to that!

God spoke to my heart to recall all that He has done for me in the past, meditate on it right now, and I did; Oh my soul was so happy and relaxed. God keep saying “I will take care of you” I was concern about bills and retirement when God spoke this to me. He reassured me on this!! Meditation on God’s Word will do this, amen.

This is telling us to study the Word, meditate on the Word, and speak the Word with our mouth; put the Word in our heart, so we will listen, trust, and obey the Word of God.

“O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.” This verse is talking about David or one of his song writers, they are expressing their affection on how they love God’s Word, and that they enjoy meditating on it both day and night because it makes them wiser.
5). Who wrote this scripture (Proverbs 4:20-22)?
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” This was God talking to King Solomon on how to meditate on His Word, trust in His Word, keeping it in his heart, so that it can produces everything he need spiritually, physically, and financially.
6). What was the date of this Scripture (Isaiah 26:3)?
The book of Isaiah was written before captivity of the Jewish people about 760 B.C.; written by Isaiah one of the major prophets.
7). Is this a mediation scripture, (Matthew 6:6)? Explain.
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Yes, I believe it is! It gives you instructions on how to enter into a private place with God, even in your heart. This is call meditation! “Being alone with God.”

This word means to get rid of something as to throw off (something) as an obstacle or burden. This means to discard, expel, reject, or unload.

God’s priority for our mind is that it be devoted and dedicated to Him, disciplined and determined and discerning His Word, and about what it does in our life. Help us to grow closer to Him.

SUMMARY
After reading the account of God’s beautiful creation in Genesis 1, we may wonder why He later destroyed the world with a flood.
It happened just 10 generations after Adam and Eve. What had changed during that time? The answer is that sin entered the world, and the effects of evil are still being felt in our world today.
SERMON POINTS
For us a generation is about forty years, and in only one or two generations we’ve already witnessed the degeneration in our culture. Prosperity and materialism have increased, and reverence for the Lord’s day and respect and care for others has decreased. To see how much can change in 10 generations we must look back to the year 1620. The world we live in today bears little resemblance to that era.
The Conditions of the Ancient World
By the time ten generations had passed since Adam and Eve were created, earth’s condition was corrupt.
• God’s Evaluation: “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Gen. 6:5).
• God’s Heart: “The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart” (v. 6).
• God’s Decision: “The Lord said, ‘I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them’” (v. 7).
One Righteous Man
In spite of the dismal and discouraging state of the earth, there was one man who was different from everyone else: “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord . . . Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God” (vv. 8-9). Although he was not sinless, Noah had three essential characteristics that set him apart from the rest of his generation: He listened to God, trusted Him, and obeyed Him. Therefore, the Lord told him about His plan to destroy the earth and commanded Noah to build an ark (vv. 13-14). Through one obedient man, God would save human civilization.
Challenging Questions
Since we, too, live in a sinful world that is rapidly changing and becoming increasingly wicked, we must ask some searching questions:
• Does God see you as righteous and blameless?
• Could your lifestyle be described as godly and holy?
• Are you different from the culture around you, or are you caught up in all the pursuits and pleasures of this world?
• According to the way you are living, could it be said of you that you walk with God?
• Are you listening to Him, trusting Him, and obeying His commands?
• Would you rather be viewed as classy by the world’s standards or holy in the eyes of God?
The Lord wants us to live in a deep, intimate, and obedient relationship with Him rather than in conformity to the world around us. This means that sometimes people who are living in sin will not want to be in our company because we make them feel uncomfortable. This is inevitable because like Noah we are walking in light while those in the world are walking in darkness and want to avoid the light that exposes their sinful deeds.
Living in a Doomed World
Although Noah was confident that the Lord would save him and his family in the ark, at the same time he knew that God was going to destroy everything around him, including the people. Therefore, he probably experienced a mix of thoughts and emotions as he was building the ark in the midst of that wicked society and warning the people of coming judgment.
The same is true of us today. We know that apart from Christ, there is no hope for the world. Wickedness will increase. Security cannot be found in a country but only in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Locked Safely in the Ark
When the ark was finally finished, God sent the animals to Noah. Because he had listened, trusted, and obeyed, he and his family were locked into the ark by the grace of God. After the Lord shut the door, the rain began, and it continued for forty days and nights. The water not only poured from the sky, but it came up from the great deep below until the entire earth was covered.
Like Noah, we never know when God will close a door requiring us to turn our backs on everybody in order to be faithful to Him. Obedience has sharply defined edges. We have no right to alter what He has commanded, change the timing, or opt for partial obedience. That’s why it’s so important to listen to God, trust what He says, and do it. These three simple practices will spare us from countless heartaches and troubles and may even save our lives.
A New Beginning and Promise
Noah, his family, and the animals were in the ark for a little over a year as they waited for the water to recede. God accomplished what He set out to do and rescued Noah from the flood. After God told him to leave the ark, one of the first things he did was build an altar to the Lord and offer Him sacrifices in worship. In response, God made a covenant with Noah, his descendants, and every living creature on earth, saying, “I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth” (9:11). And as a sign of the covenant, God set a rainbow in the sky (v. 13).
Life today isn’t exactly like that ancient world, but in many ways it is. And like Noah, we must listen to God, trust Him, and obey. We can’t afford to be like the people in Noah’s day who failed to recognize that their time was short. Their wicked rebellion was blatant and extreme, but even though we may not be guilty of such evil, our more sophisticated rebellion is still sin. Without dependence on Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, no one will escape God’s judgment.
Today God offers salvation, not by means of an ark but through His Son. In Romans 10:9, He gives this promise: “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
