Infertility, Secondary Support Group
"Secondary infertility" is difficulty conceiving after already having conceived and carried a normal pregnancy. Apart from various medical conditions (e.g. hormonal), this may come as a result of age and stress felt to provide a sibling for their first child.
here’s my story. It took us 6 months to conceive my 1st daughter. I thought well that was easy. We wanted to waited until she was 1 to start trying for #2. We started trying when she was 1 1/2. She’s 6 1/2 now and we’re still dealing with constant disappointed.
we did 6 rounds of IUI with no luck, 3 rounds of IVF with a good # of genetically normal embryos. The first one we put in led to twins. At 8w we lost them :( The next one, got pregnant but the sack was empty :( third and fourth transfers led to no pregnancy. I have 3 more embryos left.
I know that’s plenty and I’m lucky but it’s much closer to 0 than before. And being the anxious type this makes me nervous. My husband has also said no to adoption or fostering which doesn’t help with my anxiety.
I need support and need to vent. I am sad and have definitely changed as a person. I have stopped enjoying life because I am controlled by appointments, moods, periods, disappointments.
I’m looking for a group to help me each day and who I can help each day. Thank you listening.
So the update is this. I took a break until Dec. 2018 when I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. I went through a D&C and then two rounds of Chemo to reduce the numbers to 0. I have decided to stop trying for baby #2. It is a sad decision that I have come to but very comfortable with it. I want to start living my life to the fullest without stress. A hard decision but i'm 100% comfortable with it.
