Hi ya, I had a hsg the. Second procedure,it is a little uncomfortable but fine basically a dye is syringed into ur uterus and then an xray is taken and it shows up if the tubes are open or closed and also the areas where the dye spills into. I have also taken clomid,i didnt sufffer to many side effects -got a bit hot whilst ovulating but it did what it was suppose to,stimulate the ovarys although one of my tubes is blocked and the other was classed as doubtfull so I didnt achieve pregnancy.i also had a laproscopy and hyysteroscopy done,if I rremember,it is a camera and blue dye which again is injected and then checked to see which areas the dye has spilled into and out of .hope that helps xx good luck x

I had lots of cramping while they did the flushing of the dyes for the hysterosalpingogram! It was the worst cramp(s) of my life. They only last for 1-2 min. The doctor told me to take Advil before hand, which really didn't help cause it was intense. Maybe it helped after it was done.
Clomid was fine for me...moody, yes. They said that normally you don't get cramps while on the clomid, but I did. That was one side affect that I got. But in a way, I knew it was working. (It was almost like I could feel my eggs growing, silly I know.)
Don't be scared about any of it...it will all help your outcome!

A hysterosalpinogram sounds a lot more scary and painful than it actually is. Basically, they insert a catheter and inject a dye into the catheter which travels through the uterus and will indicate if there are any tubal blockages, abnormalities, etc. You may feel slight cramping when they inject the dye, but it will be pretty mild. That's all there is too it. I had one done a few years ago and I though it was a lot less of a deal than some people make it out to be. Good luck with it - I'm sure you'll do great!
I had side effects from Clomid: severe moodiness, crying and sadness with no explanation, blurred vision at night, bloating, increased appetite, etc. I'm sorry to make it sound scary but I figured you would want to know! Clomid ultimately did not work for me and I had to switch to injectable meds (Gonal-F, Repronex).
It's a lot to take in and I know it can be overwhelming, but keep your chin up and know that we are all here for you. Good luck!

Ive had both...neither was terrible. Def some cramping with the HSG but nothing that lasts longer then a minute or 2 and the hysteroscopy I just had to have last month...they just put water into your uterus to check it out. Again, it was slightly uncomfortable but nothing more then your yearly exam. You need to wear a pad or tampon after ebcause you do leak for a little bit. I have to have a repeat hysteroscopy next week because they found scar tissue in my uterus from my c-section :(

I had the hsg done. Yes there was cramping, but I'm a baby when it comes to pain. But it is over so quickly! On clomid I had/have no side effects. I think it actually made me loss weight. And annsuper, I can always feel my ovaries producing those little follicles! I know just when I'm ready, the vaginal ultrasounds confirm it too. So that's not strange, just good body awareness. It's kind of neat!

I had a hysterosalpingogram and had some cramping. I look back at that day and giggle because the doc came in and had one of those light bands stapped to his head and he reminded me of a coal miner. He was taking his sweet time and I was there in all my shining glory and he says to me "I can't find your cervix" and without missing a beat I said "Doc I am certain I didn't drop it in the parking lot, a girl would notice that sort of thing" LOL he had to go get another doc to come in and do the test.
It will be ok...just hang in there.

Please let me know how that's going! I am to start Clomid next month and am terrified of side effects and having to inject myself. I have had the HSG and was shocked at how much it hurt! I had a C-section last time so my cervix has never been dilated before and WOW the pain almost knocked me out. I am wondering if IUI will be similiar pain wise to the HSG- please let me know. Thank you so much everyone for the advice. Sorry I haven't got back on here in a while, it's been crazy around here. My tests all came back normal so it's just my PCOS ovaries and abnormal sperm for my hubby. The tests didn't hurt except for a little that evening but it was my own fault for going to a concert that night and being on my feet for several hours.

I'm on my second round of Clomid and I just had my first IUI yesterday. Clomid hasn't caused too many side effects except I had problems with random crying during my first cycle.

Savanna's Mom, I've had a bit of pain since my IUI but I think most of it has been from the HCG shot they gave me the day before to make me ovulate. Also, my cervix is pretty sensitive so it could be that, too. Nothing too bad, about the level my cramps are for my period.

I'm really hoping this works. My daughter turns 3 next month and it reminds me that I've been trying to give her a sibling for almost 2 and a half years now.
