Infertility, Secondary Support Group
"Secondary infertility" is difficulty conceiving after already having conceived and carried a normal pregnancy. Apart from various medical conditions (e.g. hormonal), this may come as a result of age and stress felt to provide a sibling for their first child.
Hi! I am back after a long baby making break. It was starting to come between us and so we decided hey let's give it awhile.
So this cycle I went back to the fertility clinic ready to give it my all.
After all, this year marks our 8th year of TTC. Of course, it's been off and on but it still creates a lot of stress within a relationship.
Anyway. the last time we were at the specialist was 4 years ago. We had 3 unsuccessful IUI's with Femara. (2.5mg on days 3-7)
At that point i had cycles that lasted 26-38 days, I never ovulated before day 16, I had a blocked left tube, a severly tilted uterus and my endometrial lining was ok, not ideal, but OK.
My husband had a count of 20 million per 1/2 ounce, and a motility rate of 45%. So all of this combined created our infertility.
My cycles have regulated themselves (29-30 days), my tube is now completely OPEN, My uterus is still tilted but not as severe all from seeing an Osteopath on a regular basis. My endometrial lining was very thick, and I ovulated on day 14 and to top it off I had 3 great looking eggs!!
This time I was on 5mg of Femara (day 3-7) and Bravelle Injection (days 6,8 &10).
Also my husband's count was 50 million per 1/2 ounce and his motility rate was 87%!!!!
Now here's the problem, everyone at the clinic is so extremly optimistic about this. I mean everything has been corrected, we have a 50 million chance of hitting 3 targets - sounds simple.... if only
After 8 years, it's hard to remain so hopeful.
Even though I am trying to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for the chance that it does not take this month, I know that when my period comes it is going to be pure torture.
How do I get through that?
