Incest Survivors Community Group
This group was created before there was an actual support group on this site for incest survivors. Most people are already comfortable here, feel free to add your thoughts, questions, and opinions. I'm here for anyone that needs me. -metalheadlxlxl
I know that counselling has helped me learn to set healthier boundaries for myself, both with friends and family. This has helped me to feel better about myself and put the incest in perspective. The moment I stopped treating myself like the victim, was the moment I started to feel better about who I was. It was when I started to figure out who I want to be. (Sometimes I still revert to victim thinking, but I don't hold onto it for very long these days.) I know this probably sounds so abstract, but I wanted you to know that time and effort can change us. We can go on to lead fulfilling and happy lives. This is what I hope for you. *hug*
Oh, how many times I've asked this very question. I really had to allow myself to fall apart. Leading a normal, productive life became too overbearing. I see the heaviness lifting now.
Please remember that things will change. You may feel awful now but it will lift eventually. If you want to share your awful memories, this is a great place to do it. Whatever you feel the need to do, honor it. And if you don't know what you need, come here and find some support and solace. Hugs.
