Hi, I know a couple of you from caring for aging parents. I put a post there about dementia in context with other conversations. I would just like to share a resource here. It is more task specific information. That meaning that not all of any sort is the same. Knowing more about what we are dealing with can help at home.
Being here is how I cope with most things in my life. It has given me an ear when I can find no one in person going through my duties in life.
My Mom is getting around pretty well still. Last year was really bad for mood and resistance, I moved right in when Dad died and she is resentful. No way can she live alone safely. She would die from freight.
So here I am in the middle of the night trying to have me time. I get little of it but make it here a few times per week. More if I can get to bed earlier.
On that note...it is time for a few zzzzzzzzz

I also moved in when dad died I did not want her to be alone in the house as she had never lived alone all of her life dad and her was always together . It wasn't very long when her health went south I have been here now for 2 years I go home to my see my other half when my sister comes down for the weekend 2 times a month so I get 24 hrs break she comes on a sat afternoon and leaves the next day.
Peaceful that website is great. Dad has dementia I see him progressing rapidly lately. He refuses to go have the testing so that we'll know what kind of dementia he has. He doesn't know what year it is, he can't tell you his address and he got lost the last time he went for a walk. He has to walk up and down our driveway now. I can't walk with him so he's not allowed to walk down the street anymore. Being disabled myself it's so hard taking care of him.
I get a 4 hour break on Monday's now. It just started last week it's a government program called Caregiver's respite. It's free to most or income based and you do have to be an inhome caregiver to qualify. It took a year on the waiting list but it sure is a blessing to have it now. I'm rambling on an on I'm sorry.
