I've been very sick lately and feeling overwhelmed by all the things I have had going on lately, and I had to go to the ER on Saturday because I was in severe pain. It was on the lower right side. I had also been experiencing weird female issues before this involving strange menstrual irregularity. I thought I had something extremely serious, like appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy, or a ruptured ovarian cyst causing an extreme infection. I was EXTREMELY worried about what this could be and if it required surgery to fix it. They did a pelvic exam, a urinalysis, and bloodwork. They ruled out a lot of bad stuff that could be going on, but I was still miserable and in pain. I was throwing up so badly they had to give me Zofran in my IV and fluids for all the dehydration I was having. I then had to drink this stuff that I really had trouble drinking and holding down. They said it was like Crystal Light, but that did not taste like Crystal Light at all. It took me an hour to drink it. I went in for an extremely expensive CT scan with contrast, and they ruled out appendicitis. Then, the doctor came back and said I have entirely too much stool in my colon and that I need to get going to the bathroom. She said the female pain could be from possibly endometriosis and to follow up the OB/GYN but that nothing serious showed up on the CAT scan (it was of the full abdomen, including the bowels and the pelvis as well). She said first and foremost, though, to call my GI doctor on Monday.
In addition to my other multiple health problems, I have IBS with severe chronic constipation, but I have been going just about every day up until a few days before. I had only skipped about two days of being able to go, which isn't unusual, so I was surprised when she told me I was severely impacted. I have a very high fiber diet, and yet I'm still struggling. To make matters worse, I haven't gone very much since the visit. I have taken stool softeners, Miralax, Benefiber, and drank several bottles of magnesium citrate so far. I still have not been able to have one normal bowel movement. This may seem like TMI, but it's only coming out in teeny tiny pea-sized pieces and was all watery at first. I don't even think I've gone enough to be able to be considered to have the equivalent of one normal bowel movement, and I was told I needed to have several bigger bowel movements to clear myself out. I'm very scared, as this can be deadly, and severe bowel obstructions and preforations run in my family so badly. I very terrified because I've never not responded to taking this much. I'm also VERY frustrated with my GI doctor's office for not returning my MULTIPLE voice messages explaining that I was SEVERELY IMPACTED and that it was urgent that I start going soon. I don't know what to do, and I can't afford to go to the ER again. Does anyone know of anything else I can do until my GI doctor calls me back? Is there anything else I can take that will help me? This is very urgent because I'm hurting very badly and desperate for support from someone who understands what I'm going through. I would appreciate anyone's thoughts and prayers on this matter. There are people in my life who are acting like it's "no big deal", treating me like a big baby, and acting like it's my fault when I'm doing everything I can to stay on top of this. I'm eating healthy and taking all my medications like I should be.
Also, I just got off crutches after 6 months following ligament damage in my ankle. I was so glad to get off of those, as it was bad for my RA and painful on my arms. I don't need this happening right now because I'm at a point of time where I could be enjoying life a little bit more now if it wasn't for this. I'm still young, and I just want to feel better and be able to enjoy myself again, but instead I'm worrying if I'll be able to make it through this. I don't know how long I should wait for this medicine to take effect or how much longer this will take me to go. I'm so upset that I'm going through this and am very stressed about what could be causing this now.
