Pop superstar George Michael passed away on Christmas Day at his home. Police had listed his death as unexplained but not suspicious. According to his manager, the singer died of heart failure. He was 53.
George Michael's music ruled the '80s and '90s between his hits as one half of the pop duo Wham! and his solo stuff. He sold over 100 million albums worldwide and collaborated with other music greats over the years including Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Queen, Mary J. Blige, and Whitney Houston. He won 2 Grammys including Album of the Year for "Faith", 3 Brits, 3 American Music Awards, 4 MTV VMAs and 1 MTV Europe Music Award, and he was the recipient of 4 Ivor Novello Awards - 1 for International Hit of the Year for "Faith" and three for Songwriter of the Year.
It is somewhat ironic George Michael passed away on Christmas day given his connection to two popular holiday tunes - "Last Christmas" by Wham! and "Do They Know Its Christmas" by Band-Aid (he was one of the many artists that came together to form the one-off group for the charity tune).
Were you a fan of George Michael? If so, do you have a favorite song of his (solo or with Wham!) or a memory about him you would like to share?

I’ve probably watched the sequel to __________________ more than I’ve watched the original.

Here's everything that's been happening in the world of Pop Culture this past week... in case you missed it! Some of my faves (I have a lot of faves when it comes to his music) include "Kissing A Fool", "Heal The Pain", "Waiting For That Day", "Monkey", "Praying For Time", "Freeek!", "Flawless (Go To The City)"... Also the Wham! stuff - "I'm Your Man", "Edge of Heaven", "Club Tropicana", "Young Guns (Go For It)", "Freedom", "Wham Rap (Enjoy What You Do)", and of course "Last Christmas", one of my absolute favorite Christmas songs. I could go on...
I also feel the need to give him some credit for the short-live but fantastic series "Eli Stone" for which his music was the muse and he appeared on as Eli's guardian angel. Every episode of season 1 was named after a song of his. He also made some appearances on "American Idol" and "X Factor UK" - clips of which have been floating around online since news broke that he died. I was just reminded of how good he was rewatching his performance on "Amercian Idol" on the season 7 finale. Such a great voice. Such a shame he's gone so soon.
If I had to choose two(2) songs of his as my personal favorites, they're: "Careless Whisper" & "Father Figure." Sad that he went so very young; good that we have him through his music.
