Huntington's disease (HD), formerly known as Huntington's chorea, is a rare inherited genetic disorder characterized by abnormal body movements called chorea, and a reduction of various mental abilities. The symptoms of Huntington's disease occur gradually over time - there is no sudden loss of abilities and it is hard to determine when symptoms initially occur.

I am 22 and was diagnosed in May 2015. I just found out I am pregnant. I am getting a pre natal test done to see of my child carries the disease as well. After the test, we are still torn between adoption or being parents. Since I don't know when my symptoms will come I don't know if I can care for my baby. Would you take your chances?

my advice for you don't worry too much about what going happened. enjoy your time that you have now. what tell my husband all time that you have live in moment. You never know this baby may change your life forever.

My wife had HD and we have a 6 yr old son with Autism. My wife is 35 now and the beginning signs of HD are starting..mainly psychological problems: irritability, sexual promiscuity, lack of empathy, etc. It does make it very difficult to raise a child, at least in my situation. Everyone is different.

My father has HD. He was difficult on my sister and I when my mom wasn't around before behavioral medication. Once you are showing symptoms I suggest getting it. We called it "happy pills" in our family because he had such a good change. I know from experience that these medications help the home life for the children and also the spouse. My parents had kids around 28 and I didn't really notice symptoms until i was 8 or 9. It was kind of difficult because men with HD in my family have more behavioral changes to start while females have more of motor functions. I'm not really sure if that's similar to other families with this disease. It's a terrible disease and I cant imagine being brave enough to get tested. My dad has taken care of me well past the first stage, and is still a main person i go to for anything happening in my life.
