I guess I've been dating about 3 months. I've had a couple of guys wanting to be serious right away and then get cold feet. No loss there. I had 2 dates with one guy, that I had to tell him, we were just going to be friends, and he said he couldn't handle just that, so we parted ways. Now, on my profile, I say, friends first, and we'll see where it goes.

I've been seeing one guy off and on, since March. On our first date, he said he loved me, and I thought I wouldn't see him again. We talked and texted for a few weeks, and I got to know him better and started liking him. He is so on and off, I can't seem to understand him. He works 14 days on and 7 days off. I've seen him a total of 4 to 5 times.

In April he said he too much going on with his job, his family pressuring him to move back to the north, and having surgery. He didn't want to communicate at all, and actually called me a stalker when I texted him the day after he told me about this. I so furious, I cleaned my whole house that night. He called to apologize, said he had been getting calls from his family and actually yelled at his daughter. I was still mad, and signed back up on the dating sites, and had a couple of dates, nothing serious.

After his surgery in May, he called a day after his daughter had left him. He was staying at a hotel, until he could drive. He asked if I could come and see him, so I got my own room, and went. We went out to dinner with a friend I have in the town, that's an hour away. We went to his apartment, and I did his laundry, while he rested. Walked on the beach, then I went back home.

I picked him up from the airport, last week and helped him move out of his apartment ( just luggage). He had hurt his back, so I had to do most of the lifting, besides just having the surgery. His mood was terrible, but I figured he was in pain. He had to go to DC for a few days, and when he called his mood was like when we first started dating. He had to drive to Alabama, and wil be there for 3 to 4 weeks. His said his next days off won't be until the end of the month, and said if I got a couple of days off, to come and see him. I did that once, while he was working, and I felt I was too distracting for him to do his job. Right after that trip, is when he didn't want to see me for a while. I don't think I will make that trip.

What's confusing to me, he asked what I wanted out of a relationship, when I went to see him after his surgery. I didn't ask him, because he was on pain meds, and figured I'd wait. He also said at the time, he was glad to have such a good friend. I wanted to tell him, I wanted to be just friends for now, since we never see each other, and he doesn't like to talk on the phone or text much, like when we first started dating. I just can't seem to tell him that on the phone or text, I just think that is wrong.

I guess I hold back on talking about serious things like that, and want to keep everything lite. I have a problem seeing other people, even though we have never said there is an actual relationship. I feel I'm cheating, since I haven't talked to him about it. So I get a few emails from men on the dating sites, and sometimes I reply, sometimes not. It's so confusing, this dating thing. I guess when I dating in my teens (last time I dated) you always went steady or were promised and never dated different people. I must be "old school"
