I'm into year 4 by a month. My daughter is 17. Raising teenaged girls is hard. They are just as reckless as boys but they are girls. I worried about how I would handle it with boyfriends. I'm 5'3" and weigh 110 pounds. But I'm still a parent. (Both Mom and Dad). I had the opportunity to flex my muscle last night with "a boy". My angsty, demanding, impetuous girl invited him over for dinner. She got angry with him and acted out. He started to react and I stopped him dead in his tracks. It worked. I'm pleased. I didn't have to use force or the baseball bat, just boundaries. "Don't." "My house."
I've discovered as a widow and single mom that all those worries are for nothing. Life is no different. I get frustrated and angry. She tests my limits. We both age every day. We both grow every day. I am proud of her for her accomplishments. I am proud to be her Mom. God trusted me in this role. I've got this. He gives me strength and wisdom. And laughter. Without laughter, I'd go crazy! I have to laugh at me and her..... 17..... Not much more time..... Treasuring it....
