I joined Match about a month ago. In the last week, I've had at least 4 widowers contact me. They always are super complimentary, loving your profile and your smile, then asking for your email or number to text. It's really funny, but in 3 days, 3 different guys, all widowed for 8 years and just getting back into dating. One man even told me, he had not had sex in 8 years, like that is going to make me swoon. Lol.
Anyway, the new thing it seems now, is for a woman to email you, saying their friend or their boss, who doesn't have an account, just fell in love with your profile and would love to get to know you, woman to woman, please contact them at this email address. I wonder if they are promised a cut, if you fall madly in love with them online and send them money, when tragedy hits, because it always does.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I reported the 2 women, that contacted me.

Sometimes, too, there are profiles of legitimate account holders who get hijacked by scammers and used to contact you, asking immediately to have you contact them off-site. I always email back to the account, then report it.
They are becoming increasingly more sophisticated, these dirtbags. I spoke to a local fraud squad officer, who informed me that the country of origin (usually in Western Africa) often knows full well what's going on, but because it's bringing money in, they look the other way.
There are still lots of really nice men (and women) on the dating sites. After several emails on the sites, I will give them my private one (one ONLY for dating websites, with no personal info attached)
Always use caution...but don't give up!
