HOPEFUL HEARTS...LIVING AGAIN AFTER THE LOSS Community Group
We are a group of people who have grieved the loss of a spouse, partner, or lover and are searching for a life without our mate. Some looking for their own identity as an individual or finding a life for themself. Some looking for companionship or a serious relationship with someone new. And some just feeling lost and unsure. We offer encouragement, support and virtual...
Hugs,
Val
Is your fear of being alone something that could be worked on? When I got married I went straight from my parent's house to living with my husband. He had a job where he travelled a bit so early on I was afraid of being on my own but, I got used to him being away and I just enjoyed it, I got to enjoy watching what I wanted on tv and not cooking. I got used to enjoying my own company.
Hope it all works out for you. :)

You never really know someone until you live with them. It might be a good idea to live together for awhile before taking that final step.
Thank you all for the insight and suggestions. The fear comes from watching crime shows where single women are attacked late at night. I'm not reall afraid, just temporarily because of one of the shows I watched.
I don't really want to live together before getting married. I know I love him and want him as my partner in life. He does too. We have a great deal of respect for each other. We don't want to confuse either daughter either. His daughter has just started college in a neighboring state. We won't have weekends with her until thanksgiving. My daughter is growing up very quickly! She will graduate from high school in 2 years. I want her to have a great life, wherever that may be.
He lives about 35 miles from me and we both live close to out jobs. In January, I can begin the process of finding a new job closer to where he is but my daughter will be a senior in one year. Patience... It's tough... I know what I want. More than anything, I want to make sure that he feels loved and secure. He is now an empty nester and I worry about that.
It's been an interesting journey. Two weeks ago, he went car shopping with me and told me that it was fun. He really enjoyed it. Lol! You can see why I want to hang on to this man!
They wouldn’t let anyone attack their mama...The knuckleheads even bark and scare friends and family...not to mention innocent people out for a little stroll...
Enjoy precious time with your daughter. I admire you for putting her first now.
I too often watch those true crime shows. I love them. When you are alone in a quiet house at night without someone talking to you, it does tend to get weird. You hear every noise and pay attention to it, trying to figure out what it was.
I lived by myself for awhile then moved in with my daughter and her family for a 1-1/2 I met a wonderful man that I have now know about 9 months and we just got a home together. That being said, my adult children are still having a hard time accepting him. My son couldn't understand how I wanted to be with someone else. He felt that if I really loved my former husband, I would not want anyone else in my life. My daughter 35 said she understood, but deep down she doesn't understand how I could pick someone sooo different and not athletic and into sports like her dad was. She told me she had nothing in common with him and could never hold a conservation with him.
What I am trying to say is take baby steps with teenage girls. They say they understand, but will give you a hard time all the way. Let them get use the fact that you have really moved on. Not that you wanted to, but these were the cards that were dealt to us. It will be three years in October since my husband left this earth, and I still wish everyday that I had my life back the way it used to be. We change just like the seasons do, but it still takes time.
