There really is no how to about it. When it's the right time you will know it. You may be a little nervous but it'll just happen when it's the right time and with the right person. The first person I kissed after my husband died was 18 months later. It was my first date in over 35 years. That date never led to a second date with that person but it was a stepping stone for me. I realized I was still alive and could still feel feelings I didn't think I could feel. There is no list of do's and don't's. You just kind of take it one step at a time. Of course this is from a woman's point of view. I'm sure a man's point of view may be different.

Judi is right, there is no time schedule. I was married 38 years so even thinking of dating was beyond scarey. I went on two dates a little over 2 years after Bill's passing and had no desire for touching or kissing I felt like I was cheating on my passed husband just to go out . But when I met my new husband and after a few dates when he kissed me I about died. But the next day I realized I did want to have someone I could love again! Our hearts are awesome, there is room for more than one love without diminishing the love for the first. Some of us just need to feel loved, wanted and nurtured, some are learning to enjoy their aloneness. It is like being on a pinball machine you will bounce back and forth, up and down and hopefully find your place!! Bonnie
