As you know, travel with a teen can be difficult! Make it a teen girl and one may run the other direction!
Just got back from a week in NYC with my 16 yr old daughter. Mon- she hated it. Tues- it wasn't fun. Wed- she wanted to leave. Thur- she hated me for taking her on the trip. I was ready to kill her. I vowed to never take another trip with her. I had tried very hard, spent a lot of money, sacrificed a lot for this gift to her.
Friday- we were on the Today show. She was front stage with Nate Ruess (pop singer), she got at shirt, we went to Central Park, went to a 5 star restaurant and then a Broadway play, had cheesecake from Juniors. It was the highlight of the trip. Yesterday, we got home and she told friends that as much as she doesn't like NYC, she has some great memories.
This trip was her 16th bday present from me. She didn't want a party and then got mad because I didn't throw her a party, just celebrated with family. She can be very tough to please (next to impossible). I thought the trip was another epic fail of a single parent until yesterday when she told friends about the trip. I am so happy and feel like I finally did something RIGHT! I will treasure this moment for the rest of my life.

Teen girls are impossible sometimes - I know I didn't make things easy for my mother. I see know why boarding schools are popular in other countries. Lol
