HOPEFUL HEARTS...LIVING AGAIN AFTER THE LOSS Community Group
We are a group of people who have grieved the loss of a spouse, partner, or lover and are searching for a life without our mate. Some looking for their own identity as an individual or finding a life for themself. Some looking for companionship or a serious relationship with someone new. And some just feeling lost and unsure. We offer encouragement, support and virtual...

Hi all, This weekend did not go as well as the past few weekends. It actually was a test. On Friday I came down to the first floor after being up top for only a half hour and my kitchen was completely flooded. ( I had put in a load of wash before I went up.) I determined that it was coming from my laundry room. I went outside and water was coming out my neighbors front door also. I have a town house (attached) I immediately made calls to the management company, my daughter, my wonderful friend, Fred, who was about to start the 40 mile drive here in an hour or so. My Daughter hurried over with mops, all of a sudden there was a plumber with a board member/maintenance man. The hot water heater had some age on it and we all assumed that it was the problem. In came a new one. The plumber worked diligently to get it installed. The Stack washer/dryer had to be removed, etc. Fred appeared and helped with moping, soaking up water from the carpet with towels and going to the public laundry room with rugs, towels, etc. I now thought it was safe to start the washer and did so. All of a sudden another river of water came from the washer. It seems that was the problem to begin with. So in two days, I had to purchase a hot water heater and a new stack washer/dryer. Two days ago that was not in my immediate plan. I did learn though that I have some very reliable people in my life. Fred is a new friend who I've come to care for very much. He was so willing to help in any way possible and sure made this ordeal so much easier. My daughter is about as loyal as a daughter can be. She is and has always been here for me.
Several days ago when I saw my oncologist after having a lung scan, my results were great. I will not need another scan tilll one year from now. With all the help and support I had this weekend, I can consider the flood and having to purchase new appliances a bump in the road. I am forever grateful. Love and Hugs, Dolores

You may not have expected the expense of new appliances but that is a couple of things you don't have to worry about for a while.
Thank God for your daughter and for Fred. It is wonderful when family and friends are there for you.
Now, instead of coming to a halt when I hit that bump in the road....I trip and stumble but manage to skip right over it some how! It's not pretty but it's working! Lol!
Keep up the good attitude my friend! I enjoy your posts!
Big hugs!

Next weekend Fred has some fun planned for us (I like that he is a planner).. We're going to a senior dance on Friday night , and a Country music concert on Saturday night then church on Sunday morning. The following Thursday we'll leave for New England for me to meet his family. I'm excited to meet them all. I'm really looking forward to the change in weather. It's been a long hot summer here in Fl. Fall in New England should be wonderful. I have 10 days yet but I did take out my suitcase this morning. I wish we were taking a big bus and that you all were coming along. What fun that would be!!!!!. I'll be thinking of you and hoping all is well for you. Hugs, Dolores
