Hives Support Group
Hives is a relatively common form of allergic reaction that causes raised red skin welts. These welts can range in diameter from 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more, itch severely, and often have a pale border. Urticaria is generally caused by direct contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune response to food or some other allergen. Hives can also be caused by stress.
Anyway, at my allergist’s recommendation, I take 3 antihistamines a day: morning: generic Allegra or Zyrtec, 6 hours later: the opposite of whichever I took in the AM
6 hours later: same I took in morning
I also supplement with a homeopathic remedy called Boiron.
This routine keeps my hives away during the day and makes them recede quickly in the AM. The nights can still be hellish though.
Note: I’m also taking Xolair injection therapy, and I think that overall is what’s making the antihistamines work more successfully as my breakouts before X were gnarly and far more widespread.
I hope that helps!!
