Hives Support Group
Hives is a relatively common form of allergic reaction that causes raised red skin welts. These welts can range in diameter from 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more, itch severely, and often have a pale border. Urticaria is generally caused by direct contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune response to food or some other allergen. Hives can also be caused by stress.
When an attack hits me, it covers my back, buttocks, arms, thighs, about the only thing that don't wind up feeling hot prickly and itchy with whelps all over is my face, my palms and bottom of my feet.
I get hives almost every day. Some days I"m covered and some days they show up randomly sometimes in just one place sometimes in multiple places.
Thanks again for the info!
Sorry to hear you are also suffering from hives.
I've had hives now chronically for going on 5 yrs. no real reason just come and go out of the blue and really bad when I'm really stressed too. I also get large knots or whelps that can be hot to the touch. Esp where things rub my skin.
Caffeine, Smoking and Alcohol made mine worse also.
I use to use Claritin until I grew immune to it. I use Zyrtek (Cetirizine is A generic) from Sam's Club. I have to use 5 mg 3 X a day which is a 1/2 a pill 3 x a day.
Please be careful, I have been in the E.R. several times with my throat closing up and it was from the Hives.
It can cause Anaphylaxis Shock.
Hope this is helpful and if I can help just ask!
