Work is getting to me.

I work as a porter for a parking company. I work at an area of parking garages managed by my employer. I am responsible for cleaning 2 garages. This area of parking garages is owned by a property management company. There is a Senior Supervisor, an employee who works for my employer, who is over everyone at work. There are 3 garage/area managers who are assigned to several garages. There are 2 porter supervisors. The porter supervisors are assigned to specific garages in this particular area of parking garages. For the property management company... there is a property manager at each garage.

Several time during the year my employer inspects the parking garages, people working at the corporate office for the property management company inspect the parking garages, the property managers inspect the parking garages, and the Senior Supervisor and the garage/area managers inspect the parking garages. Nothing can be out of place when these inspections happen. Everything must be cleaned. No dust. No dirt. No fingerprints on door handles. The Senior Supervisor, upper management who work for our employer, the property management company, and the property managers notice everything, and are not happy when anything is out of place. That is when the complaints are heard.

The property management company wants every parking garage to look spotless. I have been told that property management company is a top of the line company. Every porter’s job performance must be top of the line.

The property management company expects everyone to follow the maintenance checklist below everyday. Every duty has to be done in order.

Every Monday through Friday:
remove and sweep trash along landscape and entrance of garage
sweep entrance islands, clean bollards, clean signage and clearance bars
remove and sweep trash along landscape and exit of garage
sweep exit islands, clean bollards, clean signage and clearance bars
on assigned areas empty trashcans and replace trashcan liners as needed; wipe down trashcan lid and sides
on assigned areas wipe down signs, clean fire extinguisher cabinet and fire hose covers
on assigned areas clean cobwebs from ceiling and light fixtures
on assigned areas clean overhead pipes, sweep islands, sweep curbs and clean bollards
perform garage space counts at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
on assigned areas inspect and clean visible trash

Monday, Wednesday and Friday in addition to the every day duties listed above:
wet clean entrance gate housing, card reader and ticket dispenser
wet clean exit gate housing, card reader and ticket dispenser
wet clean pay station
clean the doors and the handles *the entire door*
sweep stairwells and clean hand rails
clean guard rails and remove gum
sweep elevator landings; for the lights at the elevator landings... clean the cobwebs and bugs

Every Friday in addition to the every day duties:
mop entrance islands and curbs
mop exit islands and curbs
mop elevator landings; for the lights at the elevator landings... clean the cobwebs
clear all drains
mop stairwells *provided that there is a tool to loosen the water source inside the garage*

In addition to the maintenance checklist, I am also responsible for the following...
marking sure that the trashcan liner inside every trashcan is not showing *this has to be done on a daily basis because the cleaning company that is used at night… the trash is taken out on a daily basis, and the cleaning company does not do this*

There is an amenities bay located inside on of the parking garages I am responsible for cleaning. The amenities bay is located in a section of one of the garages. It has a car vacuum cleaner, a tire pressure machine, and a machine that is used to clean the floor mats inside the car. That area has 2 parking spots. I have to mop the parking spot stripes, sweeping the area as well as cleaning the equipment.

It was stressful in January, and the stress has overflowed into February.

The contract between my employer and the property management company is about to expire.

Our porter supervisor has a daily morning meeting with us *staff of 5 porters*. On a weekly basis, and sometimes more than a weekly basis, he lets us know the following...
the property management company has several complaints regarding how spotless the garages are. This happened because the property management employees as well as the garage/area managers have been doing ongoing inspections.
the property management watches us work from a distance and has determined that we have too much downtime
the Senior Supervisor who works for our company has several complaints regarding how spotless the garages are because she has received complaints from the property management company
the property management company expects the garages to be spotless every day
According to the people who are watching us, we do not act like we are happy at work
According to the people who are watching us, we do not have happy attitudes

Our porter supervisor has told us that this is an easy job.

The property management company, the garage/area managers as well as our porter supervisor literally "plant" trash inside the garages to see if we are doing our jobs. The "trash" has consisted of a pair of old gloves *that I found inside one of my garages*, a sweatshirt *that I found inside one of my garages*, a pair of shorts at another parking garage located in the area of garages he is over, a cigarette butt *that I found inside one of my parking garages*, a coke can at another garage located in the area of garages he is over, and so on.

The complaints, expectations, and game playing has "gotten to me"

I am emotionally and physically spent.

My employer does NOT know that I am an HSP.

I do not expect special treatment at work, but I cannot continue dealing with the negativity and the expectation of making sure the parking garages are spotless on a daily basis.
