Someone abused me for reciting a poem about panic

This was it's reply. I wanted to cut myself after.
Hello Lonewolf363,
The topic you're watching, "What are the pros and cons of taking Paxil?" has a new reply by shrinkingviolet66.
First of all I have a single perspective that you don't, as I suffer from panic disorder, so you need to pipe down about something you can not possibly know anything about. My personal knowledge alone gives me card blanche to wipe the floor with your pseudoscientific ass and never feel guilty about demonstrating to the world at large that you peddle nothing but lies and foolishness. I have every right to be angry at you and your pseudoscience because it did nothing but waste my own life and my money, and countless lives and dollars. "Linden Method" anyone?
Whatever "facts" you spit out here are NOT FACTS because BY DEFINITION pseudoscience is UNTESTABLE. You want to know why there are more psychologists than psychiatrists? How about the cost of medical school? How about the lack of rigorous scientific and math education in the West today? Anyone! can become a psychologist or "therapist" and in many places all you need is a BA degree and not even a license to "treat" someone. Hypnotherapists don't even need an education if they don't want to get "certified" and if they do, its 150 hours of "contact time" with a patient to get "certified".
So you have the most complex and LEAST understood organ in the body and you aim to treat it with the least qualified, most uneducated, and least scientifically trained people you can find. If that recipe works, you should try treating cancer with it and see how well that goes.
I respond to people on this board that are looking for answers. If they need to try medications, I tell them to seek out their doctor and work with them to find a solution. If they want therapy, I send them to board certified CBT therapists with the proper training to treat their condition. Every circumstance is different, and my adv! ice is based on what the person presents here, same as any pr! ofession al would do. I am a shill for no one except truth. The truth is there is NO CURE for panic and my postings reflect that truth. I force people only to look at truth and not waste time screwing around with pseudoscience, and placebos that will only break their spirit and evaporate needed funds from their wallets.
I hear from you quacks all the time the same tired tag line..."just try it, because its side effect free UNLIKE medications..." You lowlifes capitalize on that simple fact of benign side effects to further your agenda of ripping people off, knowing FULL WELL your nonsense is at best a placebo and at worst ineffective claptrap.
You think placebos do no harm? How about the billions upon billions of dollars WASTED on pseudoscience and quackery? Money that could be fueling REAL RESEARCH with REAL scientists with real TESTABLE hypotheses? What about the degradation of the spirit that comes with feeling like a fool and a failure because ! some ignorant therapist with no training comes along and tells you "you aren't trying hard enough" or "just breathe" or "you have to learn to relax" ...yeah, right..I NEVER would have thought of THAT...just relax, that will make it ALL BETTER....
What about the lost income from weeks and months of placebo pseudoscience? In case you were not aware, PEOPLE NEED THEIR LIVES BACK so they can work, and keep a roof over their heads. They don't have the time or money to WASTE on claptrap and "getting to the bottom" of something especially if that bottom is only the bottom of their bank account. Medications get people back to WORK, back to their LIVES. If your pseudoscience only took 20 minutes to take effect, and worked as consistently as xanax, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
People that wind up here are sick. Physically sick. They have a MEDICAL CONDITION. If is not controllable with your mind unless ! you happen to be a talented monk who has spent 25 years practi! cing, an d even then there is no proof that practicing for 25 years is "curative"...if anything it just might be coincidence--there are no studies of monks with panic disorder.
As for other studies that PROVE my assertions, just type "panic disorder" into the NIH database and read some. You still haven't given ME a single study with that lofty 90/10% rate you posted on the other thread...I'd be really interested to see THAT.
I am angry that people like you continue to perpetuate nonsense that hurts people in the long run due to lost opportunities and wasted funds on research. Psychology has had 100 years to figure out its "science". It is quite apparent that the methods don't work, as there are still people running around with mental illness all over the place in spite of the FACT, as you point out, that there are MORE therapists than ever before. Anyone who wants therapy can get it, and that is the point. THEY DO GET IT and IT DOESN'T! WORK, and it TAKES TOO LONG TO SEE THAT IT DOESN'T WORK.
So yeah, I am angry. I want to see a day when people that are suffering with a PHYSICAL ILLNESS like panic disorder or schizophrenia GET CURED by taking a pill. There is no way that "therapy" will EVER match the effectiveness of a medication, once the right medications are developed. You only need to see the proof of that FACT by looking at the history, and seeing how antipsychotics allowed schizophrenics to finally have a life, for the first time in thousands of years of people having this condition. What could therapy offer them? NOTHING.
Yes side effects of antipsychotics are terrible, but ask any schizophrenic if they would prefer lobotomy or shock treatment, as they used to do before antipsychotics were invented. Someday science will refine these medications and get people a CURE. I can not see how "therapy" will ever evolve a methodology that will provide these pe! ople with any curatives. As I stated before--they have been at! it for 100 years now...TIME TO MOVE ON!
At best, the only hope for psychology is as a "support system" or adjunct to medications. That is why a movement needs to begin to get people AWAY from placebos, and AWAY from researching and working in the realm of pseudoscience. The ONLY hope anyone with panic disorder or any other "mental" illness has, is SCIENCE and MEDICINE. Anything else, is just fooling around.

When reports are sent to the DS-team it takes time for them to review them, so this person may not be going immediately.
I know that 'shrinkingviolet's post has an aggressive and harsh approach, I can see that they feel passionately about their convictions. I notice that their core issue is they do want people with mental health to get well and that isn't a bad thing, but I can certainly see how the person's attitude may push buttons and ignite some strong emotions in people who suffer from anxiety and panic.
I myself have suffered from anxiety and panic attacks over the years, to me this person is expressing their point of view, but I agree it is abusive in tone, and it doesn't mean that they are right. I would say for you to not take shrinkingviolet's posts personally even though as an HSP you most probably are. I know how that goes. but this person's attitude is their problem and not yours and so try not to take it to heart.
I would hope that you do not cause yourself any harm over someone's opinions and comments. you are worth way more than that so please be kind to yourself. I give you a hug and tell you that you do not need to listen to this person. ok.
for the time being until 'shrinkingviolet' is reprimanded or banned, I would try and ignore any posts that this person posts. Do not 'retaliate' and 'argue' back with them which I guess you probably don't do. You can block them from sending you private messages. If they are a 'friend' then de-friend them
I am glad you can come to HSP and feel safe here. I hope you can join in some of the interesting and fun threads that we have here.
