The highly sensitive person (or HSP) is someone who cares deeply about everything ... feels emotions with great intensity ... is highly conscientious ... has a rich and complex inner life ... is very intuitive ... is often creative in a variety of ways... is easily overwhelmed and/or overstimulated. A HSP needs lots of quiet time, space, and freedom. If this sounds...
It sounds like you are doing some good self help such as acupuncture and exercise. That's good.
Maybe try some herbal teas, chamomile. There's one by celestial seasonings called Tension Tamer.
Aromatherapy? Lavender.
You may want to read up on Vitex. (Chaste berry). it's for female reproductive system and is helpful for PMS symptoms. It's been used for centuries for women issues.
I take it. You can get it online.
I may have misunderstood something. Are you actually taking Lexapro?
I would discuss with your doctor what is going on with you.
Perhaps you need a change in dose or need another med.
I hope you find answers and feel better soon.

I've found that breaking the sugar habit is very helpful in controlling many of the symptoms. If you'd like some suggestions on getting off the sugar craving roller coaster, I'd be glad to share some techniques.
I think anyone with severe PMS symptoms such as yours should be reevaluated often and being proactive on getting the proper tests done. Make sure your doctor isn't rushing you through your appointment and that he/she works with you to personalize a treatment. Your doctor needs to recommend natural- self help options and investigate possible underlying causes of PMS such as an infection. Options: (Naturopath, herbalist, chiropractor, acupuncturist).
I hope you get feel better soon. Hugs
If you are not involved with any kind of physical activity none of the bodies natural production of hormones and enzymes etc are going to be happening or balanced.
I found that exercise alone does not work and can aggravate if not done in a balanced manner. This and right food ... like really right foods NOT freez dried frozen processed packaged. It is what it is. bodies run better with basic foods cooked and raw and not prepacked. PMS has a lot to do with modern convenience and imbalances on more then one level. Not saying I don't have PMS cuz I do but no matter one or all symptoms are reduced.
I used to be a vegetarian. There was a time I was a vegan and now it took all those years decades to get it right. EAT MEAT PRIOR TO CYCLE. There is also YOGI brand "Moon Cycle" tea which includes Don Quai ... this works! Drink every day one week before cycle begins.
I will try drinking it like you suggest before my next cycle.
You have given really helpful advice to Jupiterjazz but will take for myself too. Thank you.
That's the good thing about people sharing things on DS. We can learn from one another and advice given to others can also be helpful for other readers too.
Peace
I think there are some helpful tips here that I would like to try.
I wish I could make more time for myself to do yoga like I used to, get regular exercise, etc.
I was doing yoga more often and working out more often when I only worked 3 days a week. but with my full time job, its tough to find the energy and discipline to do other things.
Plus I think I spend a lot of extra-curicular time on my health--like I go to my chiropractor or accupuncturist after work. I do these things once a week to once every other week. The accupuncture is supposed to be partially for my PMS and I think it does work sometimes. There are cycles where I barely notice it and then there are times where it feels like the worst ever.
My fiance complains that I don't have enough time to spend with him, so its very hard to balance everything out and to also take time to take care of myself.
But I think I will try some of the advice like the tea, etc.
