Breathing exercises, a walk, or relax with some soothing music before you go. Bring on a smile and helpful attitude at your position, this always sends the right message for people to accept you. First impressions from others is what they will remember about you. Good luck and stay optimistic:)

Just showing up is half the battle, and be your self, expect to make mistakes which is how you learn and ask questions. Don't freak out if you mess up, just do your best that is all you can do, and they did hire you so they do have confidence in you. Breathe! (I just started a job on June 19 and this is all what my work counselor told me-I'm enrolled in DVR-(division of vocational rehab)

The others' ideas are great. Bring an mp3 player if you have one, and a book to read to stop feeling awkward at lunch or breaks. Also bring a pen and note pad, write down everything in case you forget. The act of writing down itself helps you remember and you can then refer back if you are unsure.

Wear comfortable clothes, not a starchy uncomfortable suit. Just something neutral like a shirt and skirt (unless there is a uniform obviously). Then look to see how formal or informal other ladies dress and you will have an idea what you should wear the next day.

thinking of you today

hello all, it has been a very good first day... first thing in the morning i was welcome by an acquaintance from university...she was not very enthusiastic though, throughout the day she has been criticizing the company and giving me negative feedback on it...well, as it was my very first day and I intend to like and stay in the company, I didn't care about those critics.
The training part was good, and when she was gone in the evening, I have made friends with the others, and at that time, everything seems good enough. The people over there were friendly and very helpful. I have had a very nice time.
A little tired though on this first day but what I should do is work hard and listen not to anybody coz I know I'm going to love it over there.
