Hello, I am new to the site, I joined looking for a group like this one.
About ten years ago I have a bad case of Trichotillomania, and it got worse and worse until I was entirely bald.
It started with patches on each side of my head near the top, and it spread.
At the time I tried to heal myself. No one had heard of this, so I couldn't go and talk to anyone. My only friends that knew made fun of me. It was awful. What I done was finally just shaved my head and bought a wig. I decided that if I didn't have enough hair to pull, I wouldn't be able to pull it and maybe lose the habit. Sometimes the compulsion made me crazy, so to sooth it, I would rub in some "Arthritis hot" in spots around my head. The burning soothed that weird desire.
I started college, in my wig, and ended up being busy and consumed from free time. As my hair grew out, I didn't pull anymore. I thought I was cured.
Here it is ten years later, after going through much hell including two divorces, and a bad - very bad - money situation. The stress has gotten to me again, I have found myself pulling lately - after having not for 10 years. Right now it's just two tiny spots that can be hidden. They are in the perfect place to seem as though maybe I'm about to grow horns. lol Wonderful.
I must stop this now before it gets out of hand. I must pay attention to what I am doing. I can not allow this to reach the degree it did 10 years ago. I hope to meet a friend here that will understand. God knows no one else does.

After posting thing, I told my boyfriend to read it. He told me I should have told him that I had went through this before. Then he looked upset, and in the end he told me that if I lose my hair I am gone.
