Dear Dad, Look at the life you lead, isn't it sad. Dear Dad, Look at all the things you put Mom through, she raised 2 kids and delt with you. Dear Dad, You ask why I don't call, is it really that bad? Dear Dad, Have you ever concidered of what you've done? Dear Dad, You made Alcohol your #1. Dear Dad, I'am sorry you have to face it too. Dear Dad, Just hang in there, Ryan is watching over you. Dear Dad, I want you to know I love you know matter what. Dear Dad, Realize I'am always here and I'm what you've got...... Love you, Erica

Now, my daughter was almost 15yrs old when her brother died, and I was so into myself from grieving..., these poems that I found, made me realize I have a daughter who needs me, and through the grieving process, it has been hard for us, b/c I always want to talk about Ryan and she doesn't..also I wonder if I should give the poems to her father to read or not? I know if I ask Erica that same question, she would say NO..b/c she always has been afraid of him....???KLS

yeah.... i think she is a very forgiving and loving person. prolly confused. but she does love her brother. you can feel that.

I Ryan has taught us one thing. And that is life is short. Her father deserves to know the pain he is putting his daughter through and face a dose of reality.
Addiction is hard, but it hurts the people you love most.
I would absouletly give this to her dad.. maybe , just maybe, he will come around in time to be a REAL father.

Erica sounds like a very bright and beautiful young lady. I would ask her permission first. I kept a journal and wrote a lot of poetry as a teen and would be very upset if someone shared my work without asking my permission. There are a lot of times that we have to write things to get them out and we don't mean to ever share them. I would like her father to know how she felt, but if he is still in a haze, then he wouldn't understand anyway. This is her issue to be handled by her, when she feels ready. How hard it must be for you, being a mother who has lost a child and (like mothers do) you feel as if you weren't there as much as you would like for your daughter. I don't think that is the case and I suspect that your forgiving daughter doesn't feel that way either. She seems very understanding. You have been through your fair share of stuff and I am amazed at your strength and faith.
