Healing the Child Within Community Group
This is a safe haven for victims of childhood abuse and their loved ones to share stories, sympathies, and tips for healing. Whether verbal, physical, or sexual in nature, the effects of childhood abuse can be permanently scarring. Together, though, we can find strength and solace in each other.
I can very much identify with your post.Oh, and I do sometimes feel like that child!
Hope you are feeling a bit better now that you've found us. Here is a quote I hope may be of
use to you: "In order to love oneself, one must behave in ways one can admire". I've found it
immeasurably useful in all sorts of ways and conditions.
Be of Good Courage,
jimindigo.
I thought that is was only me that was like this. I thought I was mad or something and didn't dare mention it to anyone, not even my GP as I thought I would get put in some sort of institution.
I have found a councellor that I have seen 3 times now, who really seems to know where I am comming from and I have also explained how i feel ( as best as i can) to my GP. She was great, unfortunatly she is retiring next week, but I am so please that I told her.
I hope that we can all help each other on this site and try to understand our inner children and learn to live in harmoney.
Big HUGS to you both. Something I never got as a child.
I had stopped the drink at Easter before that, but for some reason, something triggered something and I drank a bottle of vodka and, did some very stupid things.
My inner child is so emotionally screwed up sometimes I just want to give everything up and disappear forever.
Scenario: I come to you with a little girl who has had a bad time, she's very frightened and distrust-
ful of people, though desperate to be loved, she's afraid TO love. I caught her in the process of packing and ready
to leave, I can't be there all the time for her, would YOU please take care of her till she feels stronger? She needs
understanding and gentleness, and if you could manage it, let her know you really care, let her know OTHER PEOPLE care, and she doesn't have to face the big bad world all alone.
Do you think you could do that for me? I'd be
very grateful, and I'm sure she would be too once she settles with you. She's a really nice kid and deserves a
break, and I'm sure you are just the right kind of person to give that gift to her.
Thanks For Your Trouble,
God Bless,
jimindigo.
Thats such a lovely way to describe it. I will do my very best to look after her. Although at times she doesn't want to be seen. ( If that makes sense) Also at times she gets very very angry and I feel it hard to deal with her.
Thank you for all your advise, and words of wisdom. Have a good day

Good to see you are OK, because it makes ME feel better. So, you shall be the first to see my new quote
I found.
"I think the purpose of life is to be useful,to be responsible, to be
compassionate. It is above all, to MATTER and to COUNT, to STAND for something, oh God,to have made
some DIFFERENCE that you lived AT ALL!
Quite,quite beautiful,yes?
jimindigo.
I encourage you to look into either the PTSD workbook and or The Courage to Heal; both cover the three inner persons of our psyche. Which are - inner child, inner parent, and inner adult.
It's quit common for us incest survivors to self medicate; it's easy to numb out the pain then accept it or deal with it. I started drinking at age 12, from incest... Been clean over six years, have no interest in so today. I'm happy! IF, I've done it, you can too!
