I just got a new (well, refurbished, it was cheaper) Vitamix. What are everyone's favorite recipes that include greens (the veggies themselves, not supplements, which I don't have)? I didn't really take advantage of my last one. Mostly enjoyed fruit smoothies and made stuff for my cats. When my kids were young I blended raw carrots and cooked rice, which was actually good.
It was on their website, only $300 plus.7 year warantee. I lent my other one to my parents when my Mom had cancer and my dad ground up a spoon in it. Then, not knowing it was a $500 machine, he threw it out. I finally told him (It's 5 years later) and asked for the new one for my birthday. Hopefully it will make making the mousse easier, too. My blender was having trouble with it.
wow, mousse in the vitamix. I use a food processor and still ended up with avocado chunks this last time! LOL There are some recipes in the News files for the vitamix. I keep almond butter and tahini in the fridge thanks to the vitamix. I lightly toast the seeds to bring out the oils, about 30 minutes at 300 degrees. I roast 2-4 pounds at a time in a big glass lasagna pan.
In the vitamix jar I put 1 oz ( 2 Tbl) of quality grape seed or olive oil, 1 tsp Real Salt, and 1 pound of almonds or sesame seeds. Get it to high and tamp it down into the blades. after about a minute it will start chugging, keep tamping until it runs smooth. pour into a quart jar and repeat with the rest of the seeds or nuts. The second batch you'll be needing to scrape down the sides and the tamper as the seeds will be sticking to the already prepared butter. If you don't have a scale, you can find cup conversions online for seeds and nuts, and sometimes on packages. You can get a nice battery operated scale that weighs both in grams and ounces/pounds. Costco had one last time we were there for about $20 and I already had one, so I missed out! LOL
