Hello Everyone,
I do have a lot of experience with using vitamin c, and a post by a doctor, which I can not find at the moment, has him saying what I believe to be true as well. Two things about ebola: One, it disrupts the clotting factor and that is why people bleed out.
The defense against that would be Vit K2, if you are so inclined.
And most importantly, the vitamin c. I would plan to use it iv, but there was actually one time I was so sick, I couldn't function well enough to even put it together. So it doesn't matter if you have the cure, if you can't minister it to yourself.
I have thwarted a serious case of flu with oral c. It does not cure, but it stops the major symptoms caused by the generation of free radicals.
Theory is that vit C is electron-rich. It donates those electrons to unpaired free radicals which are bouncing around wreaking havoc, So it also quells the over response of the immune system, which is what does people in.
I began by taking 5,000 mg each half hour, and adjusted as the symptoms flared or subsided; I didn't count, but 100,000 mg would not be a stretch.
When your body gains the upper hand, it leaves the C in the bowels and you get the runs. If your sick still, it will absorb it for use.
Use like this is called titrating to bowel tolerance. It is not a drug, but you are using it like a drug to control the outcome.
BTW, I have so much respect for vit c, I think it should be the centerpiece of all diets, getting it through food, and supplementing otherwise, and people everywhere should be focused on it no matter if they have hcv or not. Mega doses just keep people well. When you see people who are not well, they are not eating enough vit c.
It is said that those people in Africa are already malnourished, and ebola just wipes out any reserves of vit c they might have had. That's why it's so severe.
I buy the powdered ascorbic acid from http://vitamincfoundation.org, and I mix it with the pestasol c which is another one that quells the free radicals. PubMed has a couple articles about it.
I then buy 000 veg caps from Swanson vitamins and make a bunch, and take 2 each hour, until a hint of bowel distress, then cut back. You can control it more or less.

I get worried about taking too much of everything but I think I read somewhere that the body will take what it needs from herbs etc and leave the rest unlike pharma which is so much stronger and more aggressive in its demands on the GI system. any thoughts on that. taking too much of so many herbs
I hear that it is hard on the liver and then this latest read from someone..
thanks again

It's got some great information and a chart of how much to take for different conditions. When I was really sick I was taking 40 grams a day, so a kilo of C lasted me 25 days. I mixed it with pineapple juice. Now I also have a vitamin C powder with the bioflavanoids in it. 1 tsp has just 1 gram of C. The ascorbic acid has 5 grams of C in a tsp. I mix them together and add a tsp of each to my fruity kombucha drinks. I have 2 a day. 12 grams a day. If I need I'll take a third drink for 18 grams.
I did the 40 grams a day while I was recovering, and after a year or so, I suddenly could not tolerate that much and dropped back, until I reached 20 grams a day. After I got my dental work done, I no longer needed 20 grams a day. Like owquitit said, you know when your guts gurgle that you've reached your dose, and then you can drop back to where you don't gurgle, If you get the runs, it's too much, wait awhile and then start again. The best way to determine you tolerance level is to reach gurgling and then drop back slightly. If you get the runs, drop back a little more. The nice thing is the runs don't last.
The Ascorbic acid I use is this one.

It's pharmaceutical grade. Our Promise and Guarantee: We use only 100% pure pharmaceutical grade L-ascorbic acid USP-FCC* (C6H8O6) which contains no corn residue, plant antigens, or protein impurities. Individuals allergic to corn or yeast can use this product with confidence. pH 2.1† Made without Gluten or GMOs
It's only $30 for 2.2 pounds. Unless you just have to pay more, this is a good source. I used to get Carlson Labs, but it's a little more expensive. Both work equally well. Carlson's is not as dense and only 4 grams per teaspoon. You can buy them already buffered, I prefer to buffer them myself. Buffers include calcium, magnesium, and bioflavanoids. Buffers help if your stomach is sensitive to that much acid. The acid used to bother me, but no longer.
Vitamin K2 is found in all leafy greens in abundance as well as in other veggies. You can google Vitamin K2 sources and get a list. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=112#foodsources
