Just get some SUCANAT.
You'll wonder how you ever liked white sugar!
Costco carries Organic Sugar.
But it's got the molasses taken out.
The sucanat is the real thing.
It's brown, big granules and a full bodied flavor.
You're right about coffee and honey....yuck! LOL
Try splenda. I know many that like it. I don't use much products that are substitutes like sugerless drinks. My doctor says to avoid them. I think they can worsen you chances of cancer. I will have to ask agiain what it is in the products and why to avoid again. So much research I forget every detail sometimes just remember he told me to avoid them as much a possible. I like honey and try to by things with low mgs of sugar.
Please don't be upset, but I just googled "Splenda toxic" and came up with a load of information.
I too have tried to come up with a solution for the sweet tooth, and I finally gave up. I take my green tea without sugar, honey, molasses, maple syrup, stevia, splenda, saccharin....In fact what I do to add flavor sometimes, but very seldom, is add a pinch of Real Salt. I know that doesn't help you when you're trying to avoid salt. What about adding some concentrated fruit juice? That works for tea, but not for coffee.
What I found with coffee is that only organic coffee is not bitter. THe reason coffee is bitter is not the coffee, it's the pesticides that the plants are drenched with. I talked to a man who went to visit coffee plantations, and saw workers with buckets (like mop buckets) full of pesticides. They would put their arm up to the elbow into the bucket and then spread the toxic pesticides onto the plants. The men's arms were purple from the pesticides. This is how these simple people are exploited and made to do things that are harmful to them and to us.
So please try organic coffee and see if you don't mind it without sugar.
If in doubt about any substance, just google it with the word "danger".
I just did and got that splenda caused swollen livers in lab rats.
"In a simple word you would just as soon have DDT in your food as Splenda, because sucralose is a chlorocarbon. The chlorocarbons have long been famous for causing organ, genetic, and reproductive damage. It should be no surprise, therefore, that the testing of sucralose, even at less than the level demanded by FDA rules, reveals that it has been shown to cause up to 40% shrinkage of the thymus: A gland that is the very foundation of our immune system."
"It also causes swelling of the liver and kidneys, and CALCIFICATION of the kidney. Lying and deceit on the artificial sweetener issue has been the FDAâ??s Modus Operandi ever since Donald Rummsfeld broke everything decent in the US government to put Aspartame on the market as a â??contract on humanityâ??.
In test animals Splenda produced swollen livers, as do all chlorocarbon poisons, and also calcified the kidneys of test animals in toxicity studies. The brain and nervous system are highly subject to metabolic toxicities and solvency damages by these chemicals. Their high solvency attacks the human nervous system and many other body systems including genetics and the immune function. Thus, chlorocarbon poisoning can cause cancer, birth defects, and immune system destruction. These are well known effects of Dioxin and PCBs which are known deadly chlorocarbons.â??"
Sucanat or demarara sugar are whole sugar products, organic, sweet and full of minerals. They satisfy. Kathy got some demerara locally. I have buckets full of sucanat, got it on sale off wholesale. I have all these 6 gallon buckets with tight lids full of grains, flour, sugar, kelp, etc. I keep them in a cold room in the basement.
I never get offended for good advice. I couldn't remember the word but is the sacralose and what is does why the doctor doesn't want me to use sugar substitutes. I bought the splenda a long time ago because my mom recommended it. I use real sugar when cooking but lessen the amount required ususally and don't do it often. I will avoid the splenda. Thanks for a good explaination. I will have to keep that to clarify myself why.
I actually don't care for coffee. I drink tea. I once in awhile put honey in it but usually like it plain.
Yippee! Thanks so much!
Most of my recipes use less sugar than most recipes.
It's really amazing how much sugar is enough.
I was just looking at a recipe for brownies that used more sugar than flour. wow. No wonder people have weight problems. The body converts excess sugar to fat in the liver.

I think I might have found a good sugar sub!!!
It's made with inulin, from the chicory plant.
I just happened to find a couple of packets in my office, probably from iHerb, as samples. They send samples out with orders.
