Boil water in a teapot. In a cup or small bowl, put a large scoop of tahini, a small-medium scoop of miso, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Add boiling water and stir.
sounds yummy! Instead of boiling the water, I just put it in my vitamix and let it do the heating.
My hubby now takes tahini and adds water to make a nice fluffy bread spread, it's kind of like frosting, actually, only no sugar. Stays on the bread where tahini alone would fall off the edge, plus it makes it easier to enjoy.
I still am enjoying that avocado moose, jeez, how do you spell mousse???? I toast some home made bread, spread a bit of almond butter on it, then frost it with mousse and put sliced bananas on top. That is my treat.
Wishing you a beautiful wonderful day full of amazing coincidences!
I need to use the vitamix for more things. i want to try the carrot ginger soup. Other soups as well.
I thought it was spelled mousse, but now it doesn't look right. Too bad this site doesn't have the red line under words that are misspelled.
BTW, an easy non-Vitamix soup I make all the time is 1/2 red lentils, 1/2 split peas, garlic, sea salt, pepper and a whole bunch of kale cut into tiny pieces. I love it with cumin as well, but the kids won't eat it that way.
oh! my words are underlined if they are wrong, but moose is an animal with long funny horms! oh, i misspelled horns! it's underlined in red!
I love putting collard greens into the blender soups. I also put it in my smoothies. I'm drinking a green smoothie right now.
Last night I lightly steamed a pound of asparagus in soy whey. When it was bright green, maybe 5 minutes of steeping, I put it in the Vitamix, added 2 red bell peppers, the tofu I had earlier extracted from the whey, and 5 green onions. Then for fat I added tahini and a little chunk of feta cheese. My seasoning is a combination of alaria seaweed, papaya seeds, herbs, nutritional yeast and a wee bit of Real Sat. I like to add some roasted chilis too, I buy the dry roasted chilis from Frontier Herbs. We had that along with some whole wheat toast with avocado for spread.
I love cumin with lentils. The night before we had red lentils fixed into a soup with tahini and salsa. I make salsa in a food processor.
Tahini is easy to make in the VItaMix. Dry roast 16 oz of seeds, the hulled seeds are the most nutritious. 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. While they are still hot put them into the vitamix along with 2 T quality oil - grape seed or olive, and a tsp of Real Salt or unrefined sea salt. Put the lid on, turn it on, bring it up to high, and use the plunger to help the seeds into the blender. In about a minute it will start to chug. Watch it. When it starts to run smooth, turn it off. I generally scrape the plunger on the sides of the lid opening to get those seeds stuck to it down into the mix. I generally make 2 batches and store it in a quart jar in the fridge.
Nut butter uses the same recipe, only nuts instead of seeds. Dry roasting nuts and seeds helps to bring out the oil and makes a better butter. I use glass pans to roast the nuts and seeds. They are done when you smell them. I learned that from Helen Keller, LOL
