I'm looking for a protein supplement. I've found soy, whey, and pea protein. Whey seems to be most beneficial as far as amino acids, and absorption, but it is an animal protein right? And isn't that harder on my liver to break down? I don't eat much meat, chicken once a week. I love fish, but worried about mercury. I know that I need some animal protein. Any suggestions?
For my particular health needs, I use organic whey protein powder. I need the extra protein because I work out, have to be extra cautious with iron not only hcv but hemochromatosis, plus osteoporosis. With powder, I can adjust the #mg to fit with my little meal. I have mechanical digestive issues & find this easy to digest. I spread the protein over the day, not all @ once.
There are those who eat no animal flesh or products who balance their nutritional needs. I believe the danger is in the serving size & frequency. Balance is key.
My personal preference is whey. I'm looking to promote calcium, too. There's no right or wrong. You're already doing more for yourself than most people do.
