I made some yogurt with those recently, worked just fine. Even though the exp date is 9/12.
Here's the other one I take, it is a plant based probiotic and has a small amount of plant based iron. Elemental iron is the real problem. Plant based iron is very poorly absorbed.
Another thing that helps is kombucha.
I've been making my own for awhile. There are plenty of links for the recipe and how to get started. I got GT's Original formula Kombucha at the Health food store, 2 bottles, and put the tea in a gallon bottle with a hanky and a rubberband lid to keep bugs out. Takes about 2 weeks or more, depending on the indoor temperature, for the Scoby to form. After a week, add some heavily sweetened green or black tea, no flavors, such as Earl Gray with bergamot. It can kill the scoby and ruin the batch. I use Prince of Peace from iHerb, $6 something for 100 organic tea bags.
I was having a hard time getting a decent sized scoby, they were all thin. I was tweaking my procedure, using black tea. Finally my friend said, Use white sugar. Bad for you, good for scoby. So I bought a bag of white sugar. I just harvested 9 quarts of tea and the scobies were gorgeous! The fermentation process eats up about 90% of the sugar.

I like this bottle, instead of 180 you get 216 capsules.

These really help with digestion.
