naringenin, it's a bioflavanoid present in grapefruit in (I believe) the pithy stuff between the fruit and the rind. I am taking a supplement of bioflavanoids that has naringenin. It's supposed to interrupt the viral cycle, I think....
I'm taking 2000 mg/day of 98% naringenin. It was reported in Jan. 2008 that HCV is bound to very low-density lipoprotein (vLDL, a so-called â??badâ?? cholesterol) when it is secreted from liver cells. Naringenin blocks the secretion of hepatitis C virus (HCV) from infected cells, stopping it from transporting on the vLDL.
Don't confuse Naringenin with nangarin. It was Naringenin that was reported in the study.
I would like to take it based on reading the Harvard study pub. in Hepatology. But am worried if it has many interractions with drugs. I am on Clexane for dialysis and a few meds for pain and restless legs. I believe it inhibits cytochrome p450c. If you google it you will get interesting links. Mindy xxx
