I dedicated this weekend to do my first liver flush. I have to admit I was a little nervous. Drinking all that Epsom Salt and olive oil...? How was my liver going to react? Would I get nauseous or throw up? Eeeewww. Well as usual all my worrying was for nothing. I prepped the week prior by eating really clean. Mostly plant based diet. The day of, I just drank fresh juices. Then in the evening, I followed Mak1ah's protocol. She was very helpful in supporting me throughout. After drinking the olive oil, coconut, grapefruit juice mixture(which didn't taste as bad as I anticipated) I went to bed, laid on my right side all nite and slept 10 hours. I woke once, to some cramping. I believe the ornithine really helped with the sleeping. In the morning, I drank the last Epsom salt drink and stayed in bed a little longer.
Once my body started flushing the toxins and the stones out it was amazing seeing all those stones! Which had been blocking my bile ducts! HELLO no wonder I have digestive issues! I eat mostly raw food. Drink green smoothies daily and still struggle with improper, stagnant digestion. Well, guess what I learned this weekend? My liver makes these sweet, little gurgling noises. And that is a really good thing. To have a gurgling liver means something is working. My noises in my gut have been quiet and non-existent for years = constipation, stagnation, toxic build up, and gall stone build up. So after passing hundreds of those stones from my bile ducts and gall bladder Yesterday, I feel fantastic today!
Toxins out, Vitality in! I will continue to do this on a maintenance basis. It helped to have a weekend free and nothing planned but this. So I will just make sure I block out a weekend to do this monthly until I get most of the stones out.
Now that might sound weird but I have made a lot of lifestyle changes. When I was diagnosed with HCV 4 years ago They also discovered a mass in my stomach. It was removed surgically with clear margins, it was a rare cancer. I feel very fortunate and lucky! Hence the lifestyle changes. And yes eating mostly raw and vegan and green smoothies can be a pain in the butt sometimes but I feel so much better than I used to. And liver flushes can taste sort of yucky and require a bathroom for 12 hours but if I feel 100% better after and my liver is gurgling it is worth it. What I choose to eat is one of the few things I can control. And how I treat myself is also in my control.
This liver flush is another way to treat myself with loving kindness. Obviously my body was screaming for attention. Lack of digestion, frequent constipation, stagnation. I knew I needed to amp up my health regime. This liver flush was just what I needed. I had been thinking of doing one. I had read about them in books. I read Mak's post and was inspired. I had read about them on websites but FEAR held me back, I am really happy that I decided to feel the fear but do it anyway! Life mantra! Feel The Fear But Do It Anyway! We all know if we trust our gut ...hehe....it tells us what to do. My gut had been telling me for awhile.....hey YOU! Yes YOU! I am bloated. Feeling kind of yucky...kind of stagnant in here....can YOU do something...?
My experience was good. Stones And Toxins out, Vitality In!

It's like having gravel in a garden hose, it still runs, but it's slow.
Friend of mine just had surgery to remove a gallstone that had become lodged in the pancreatic duct. She has never done a flush, but she's always had a weight problem. When I met her she weighed over 300 pounds, had surgery to remove it, then she started gaining it back.
thanks
Question: I have mostly-compensated cirrhosis. By this I mean that I have only minor symptoms of a compromised liver. I quit drinking alcohol last year, and am hopeful that with dietary and lifestyle changes I'll be able to 'chug along' on my remaining "sliver of a liver" for the rest of my days without going into liver failure. My HCV has been in SVR status for several years now...no evidence of recurrence or reinfection.
As you know, doctors typically poo-poo the idea of 'flushes' in general - so I'm not getting any encouragement on that front. So here is my question...submitted to all five of you on this thread/discussion:
Based upon your knowledge and experience, what is the likelihood of my benefitting from such a flush?
And are there any special precautions or considerations that I'd need to be mindful of?
Liver failure occurs when cell suffocation destroys so many liver
cells that the number of cells required to carry out the organ’s most
important and vital functions is insufficient. Consequences of liver
failure include drowsiness, confusion, shaking of hands tremor, drop
in blood sugar, infection, kidney failure and fluid retention,
uncontrolled bleeding, coma, and death. The capability of the liver to
recover from major damage, though, is truly remarkable. Once the
liver flush has removed all gallstones, and the afflicted person
discontinues using alcohol and medicinal drugs, there usually are no
significant long-term consequences, even though many of the liver
cells may have been destroyed during the illness. When the cells grow
again, they will do so in an ordered fashion that permits normal liver
functions. This is possible because in liver failure (as opposed to liver
cirrhosis) the basic structure of the liver has not been substantially
compromised.
I felt that I had symptoms which would benefit from a liver flush. Bloating, sluggish digestive system and I was looking for a way to jump start my liver. Get the gunk out so the bile could flow.
Do I understand correctly that you were lucky enough to do treatment and remain in remission? WOW! You are soo fortunate if that is the case.
So regarding your question....to flush or not to flush? I read this book called Healing Hepatitis & liver Disease Naturally by Dr Peter Oyakhire. His section on Liver Gallbladder flush interested me and made sense. And I read MAKs post...and given my symptoms and the knowledge I had gathered from reading books, blogs and websites it felt like the right time for me to try it. If you have been diagnosed with gallstones, it is recommended to drink lemon/lime or apple juice for a few months prior to the flush to dissolve the gallstones.
Ptriss.....I was never diagnosed with gallstones. However, there were some gravelly stones which came out.
Samflowers.....I did not drink the apple juice for the week prior to my flush...
Each of us have different circumstances and we are all at different stages in the progression of the disease. And what works for one person may or may not work for another. It is a personal decision. Gathering more information is a good direction. And "chugging along"

Now just so you know, I also wondered if these were made from the olive oil. They are not. First off, olive oil is liquid at room temperature and definitely at body temperature. The liver stones come out solid and they float. Another reason I know they are not in any way made of olive oil: I threw up the olive oil a couple of flushes ago. I still passed a whole bunch of stones, only they weren't coated with oil, they were dry on the outside. Liver stones if you cut them open, look much like jelly beans in that they have a coating that is kind of solid and one color, and internally they are more jelly like.
Bile or liver stones can pass out of the liver without a flush...., friend of mine had one pass out and it got stuck in the intersection between the pancreas duct that empties into the bile duct and the bile duct coming from the liver. I believe she said it was quite painful. She opted for surgery, she works at Intermountain health care. I'm guessing it was pretty big. I've passed a few stones that were close to 3/4 inch with no problem. The epsom salts relaxes the ducts so they can pass without pain.
If you google you can find pictures of this.
Just so you know...
Sulfate IS salt. Sulfate is the salt of sulphuric acid...when mixed with a base or metal.
Just like sodium (a metal) when mixed with hydrochloric acid produces the hydrochlorate of sodium or
sodium hydrochloride (table salt)
I was referring to table salt, sodium chloride, which is what most people think of when you say, Pass the salt, please. I don't think they expect Epsom Salts. or smelling salts, or mineral salts of non 'sodium chloride' origin....to sprinkle on their food. According to google, Sodium hydrochloride is a bleach-based chemical that can be used to sanitize pool water.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt
Salt, also known as table salt or rock salt (halite), is a crystalline mineral that is composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl), a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of ionic salts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_(chemistry)
In chemistry, salts are ionic compounds that result from the neutralization reaction of an acid and a base.
Yes, there are mineral salts; however, they are not SALT. In his video, he says SALT. Not Epsom salts, not mineral salts, just salt. To me, that is misleading. He also says you're basically making soap. I ask, where is the lye? Soap recipes call for lye.
Now I see what you were referring to in the original post when you said, those aren't gallstones. And actually, they are gallstones, because they are made of gall, or bile. I wouldn't say they are gallbladder stones. They come from the liver.
bile
1. A bitter, alkaline, brownish-yellow or greenish-yellow fluid that is secreted by the liver, stored in the gallbladder, and discharged into the duodenum and aids in the emulsification, digestion, and absorption of fats. Also called gall.
According to Medilexicon's medical dictionary, a gallstone is:
"A concretion in the gallbladder or a bile duct, composed chiefly of a mixture of cholesterol, calcium bilirubinate, and calcium carbonate, occasionally as a pure stone composed of just one of these substances."

great article on Bile duct obstruction. Talks about how it can cause jaundice. I guess the question that this all leads to is, are the ducts inside the liver bile ducts? Bile flows through them, so I would consider them bile ducts. So we are just trying to speak the same language, aren't we? Thanks!
