I was such a huge fan of his in my teens and early 20's. Played VU and Nico every morning for a whole year to start my day. Now I read about his liver transplant and that he credits Tai Chi with his recovery from the surgery. He even made a New Age album, meant to be played during tai chi and meditation.
I tried Tai Chi once but couldn't handle that lack of verbal instructions so I went back to yoga. But a friend of an acquaintance of mine claims to have cured Hep C through it (He still has the virus but says it's not damaging his body at all.)
Hi Brigid, I think if he still has a measuable amount of virus hes probably not cured, but I don't doubt if he believes it that hes in somesort of balance and what he is doing is really helping, good on him
i love tai chi. there are several forms. when i went to massage school we had a tai chi class, it was fun. there were names for all the movements. i think he said it was a temple form of tai chi. at first i was nervous that i was doing it right, then i realized i was overreacting to a need to be right and a need to look good, and i let go and enjoyed the process.
years later a business opened up close by that offered tai chi, so i signed up for a class. it was not as fun. i was the only student, and the form was more of a fighting tai chi. some of the movements were designed to inflict damage on an enemy. i quit going when my membership expired.
as far as cured, we have to remember that there is the virus, then there is the disease it causes. when someone is cured of the disease it causes, it means that even though the virus is still in the body, they have learned to live in harmony with it and as a result it is harmless. there are many people who have achieved this harmony. that is my goal. i'm doing pretty well now. my health has been improving as well as my strength and stamina.
Stephen Buhner, author of Herbs for Hepatitis C and the Liver, is one of these people. In his book he talks about learning to live in harmony.
