HEPATITIS C VIRAL RNA NS5a DRUG RESISTANCE

Well, my RAVs Lab results came back today.
HCV NS5a SUBTYPE 1a
DACLATASVIR RESISTANCE PREDICTED (A)
LEDIPASVIR RESISTANCE PREDICTED (A)
OMBITASVIR RESITANCE PREDICTED (A)
Mutations Detected: Y93N

MY TAKE ON THIS:

The bad news is the resistance means Harvoni, VPak, and Daclatasvir/Sofosbuvir, which are the 3 choices today for DAA's, none of them will likely work. The Y93N is one of the two most resistant RAVs to the NS5A Inhibitors. If I were Genotype 1B, Daclatasvir would most certainly work.

The good news is, they only found one mutation. It could have been more and more complicated as a result. I will see my doctor soon to discuss these results. I have only found them at myhealth.com, where the lab posts results online. ALSO! ...if you are Genotype 1B and failed Harvoni, Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir is probably your best choice.

Answered on the main. At the moment, I feel terrible about the mutant. I know it is all good in the long run.

Doctor called today. Looks like we will wait 6 months for the new drugs that don't require DAA against NS5A.

Oh! That sounds promising. Not like the old days waiting for years, hoping to get into a trial, to get the real drug not a placebo. What is six months? Not much for us. Can't wait to learn more! Wishing you the best, as always.

checking in on you and see how you are progressing...I was resistent to S & O until Harv came out but can't imagine how you felt of the news on such a long list of resist....Time flies by and Your time is still coming and you know how to take care of you ....you sure helped me so so much and you sound great....Keep the faith and press on ...praying for you...

So glad there are other options out there. I felt like i was dumped out in the cold when the first treatment didn't work and nothing else in the near future. I hope that 6 months will slip right by.
