I've lost track; it may be 3 weeks since stopping dairy and wheat/gluten; but all has improved; noticeable more stamina, consistent energy, less fatigue;
Hardest part was giving up the half and half in coffee; I refused to do that for years; and somehow it became easy; using soy milk; not that bad tasting; and yes, I have some reservations about soy too; but for now all is well.
Wish I had done this years ago; I've been blaming my ups and downs solely on the hcv.
By the way,
I have had 3 people tell me that the monolaurin relieved their symptoms; and mine as well; zero liver pain and twinges.
http://inspirednutrition.com is the best place I think to get it.
This is great news! I don't eat dairy much but I do have wheat now and then.
You can take nuts and blend them in a Vita Mix, if you have one, and make non-dairy creamer. I like walnuts. Cashews I think make the best cream. Just put 1 cup of nuts and 1 cup of water, and add more water a T at a time until you get what you're looking for.
Glad you found that it works for you! Sometimes we just have try doing something differently for awhile. Hope I don't have to give up dairy or wheat, LOL.
me too! Just enjoyed a home made whole wheat, flax seed and soy milk tortilla spread with homemade almond butter and a huge handful of sprouts. Yummy!
I have heard that it's the white wheat flour, which is a processed and refined food, that is the gluten culprit. Quit eating white bread a long time ago, so gluten doesn't seem to bother me.
Hey All: I just got home from a lecture by Dr Thomas Rau, M.D. It was amazing and most inspiring. He has a functional medicine clinic in Switzerland and opening more.. The lecture was on lyme disease as a topic because I have that too so that is why I was there. But her is talking about all chronic disease including Hepatitis and that using drugs is making things so much worse for people. I have always felt deep down that , for me, that was the way to go and now I feel so much better about it. I bought his book "The Swiss Secret to Optimal Health" and will share as I go .. It's just diet diet diet. He did say they treat the liver in a certain way.. and to avoid cold drinks ,, the liver needs warmth.. the cold ice cubes zap the energy bring it down with a compromised liver. Oh no ,, I am addicted to ice in my drinks. Lots of good information> I plan on following his diet to a T and see ........ again will let you know. I feel more hopeful. We get fed lots of fear based information here as some of you or most of you already know.. I'm sure.
Thomas Rau is his name.. He does ozone at his clinic.. a 3 week stay with beautiful views of the swiss mountains would cost around $20 k.. A girl can dream, can't she?
Thanks for posting samflowers. I've long intuitively thought this way. There are so many diets that are similar, basically I eat lots of veggies, lots of color, lots of dried beans, some fruit, easy on the whole grains and nuts and seeds. Avoiding sugar except in small quantities. I put 2 tsp and 24 oz of tea. Some people put 2 tsp in 5 oz of tea! LOL The dairy and wheat don't bother me, but I hardly eat any. I made 30 whole wheat/flax seed meal tortillas yesterday for wraps. I wrap 1/2 an avocado and load it with 2 cups of sprouts.
