A friend of mine, 40, was diagnosed with such an aggressive form of breast cancer that even though they caught it at stage one, and did a mastectomy, and ev en though her lymph nodes were clean, both Sloan Kettering and her alternative dr. said to do chemo. She is suffering so much. I feel lucky that this virus, sucky though it is, is slow enough to give me the luxury of waiting for decades for a better treatment. I do a gratitude list every morning, but often it feels rote. Now I really feel my luck, how much worse it could be. I've always known that, exsp. since testing negative for HIV. BUt that seemed more like guilt than real gratitude. feeling my blessings, my heart so open. That feeling is a gift as much as having all these health choices.
p.s. Got blood taken yesterday. I'll post the results.
my god, that is awful! Does she know about Gerson Therapy? It's harder after chemo to get rid of the cancer. The book, Healing Cancer from Inside Out, it says there are 5 major conditions that cancer cells thrive on: High acidity, poor circulation and low nutrient/oxygen levels, High blood sugar, High cholesterol, and high sex hormones.page 10 shows that from the studies done in the US (every randomized, controlled clinical trial performed in the US between 1990 and 2004) 2 highly respected oncologists from Australia produced a report on the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatments. The looked at the number of cancer patients who survived more than 5 years following diagnosis and treatment.
The overall 5-year survival rate for all types of cancer was 2.1%. For breast cancer, 1.4%. Hodgkins disease had the best survival rate of 40.3, however it represents a very small amount of the cancers. In other words, for most people, they would have survived just as long by taking a sugar pill, a placebo. The few studies that have been done comparing the benefits of conventional treatments vs doing nothing, show that people who did nothing lived just as long, if not longer, than those who underwent treatments, and obviously with a much higher quality of life.
Mak, I can't believe those stats. I know so many breast cancer survivors of over 5 years. It seems that a really high percentage of woman are surviving breast cancer, unless someone is skewing the stats. And there are lots of survivors of other cancers as well. Those numbers just seem way too low to me. But I don't know where to get more accurate numbers. I will try and get back to you.
Those numbers came from studies, you know, while the drugs were still in study mode. I have one friend with a mastectomy and a rebuild, who survived. Another whose cancer metasticized, she died earlier this year, not long after chemo.
