Can anyone recommend something for my sensitive mid-life skin? I've used Aubrey Organics for years, but they seem to have discontinued it. Something I can buy, not make -- I'm a bit ovewhelmed at the moment.
Thanks for posting all the ingredients, Shadow. Anything with parabens is a no-no I've read, also glycol and parfum. All quite toxic. I use the Kiss my Face soap on my body and love it, but it doesn't quite feel right on my face. Hard to explain -- not quite clean enough and also not moisturized enough. But so far it's the best option. I miss my Aubrey Organics! Someone was selling a tiny bottle online for $30. Maybe I'll try the kids' California Baby. Mostly aloe, with lovely essential oils. Quite pricey, though.
I went on this database -- http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/browse.php?category=facial_cleanser&&showmore=products&start=80. They list products of all types and how safe they are. I love that they did all this testing for us. My problem is that the ones with the 0, rating the safest, in every category I've tried, are obscure brands I've never heard of and can't even buy in NYC. I think there was one facial cleanser I recognized -- Juice Beauty. I use their moisterizer because it's 30 SPF. Maybe I'll try their cleanser. California Baby got a 1. Not bad; I'll still use it for the kids since they love it, though 0 is better.
he he, I was just thinking where is that site where they rate ingredients and you posted it!
I rubbed a few drops of coconut oil on my face, added a little South of France liquid hand soap Lavender scent, diluted to 25% and put into a foaming pump bottle. Then I washed it off with a wet wash cloth, then used witch hazel on a cotton ball. Now with what to moisturize .... face feels pretty clean. I get oily nose and chin.
South of France Relaxing lavender liquid soap ingredients: Filtered water, coconut and olive oil, natural vegetable glycerin, cellulose, blends of fragrance and natural essential oils, citric acid, vitamin E
I tried the shea butter, found it too fragrant. I like the lavender better and only $5 for 12 oz on iHerb.
Oh my, forgot to wash the coconut oil off my neck! LOL
I would think it depends on the company. South of France is pretty reputable. Fragrance oils come from natural sources as well as being formulated in labs, I have smelled some pretty awful fragrance oils, I hold my nose in the soap aisle and the fertilizer and bug sprays aisle. I probably won't be buying this again, but the lavender is nice, so I'll use it up.
