I was trying to work out why my dog doesn't respect me (long story, lots of money for trainer) and I realized that the "pack leader" confidence I have trouble accessing is a third chakra issue. (DOminance/power/boundaries/past abuse, etc.). Which, interesting enough, is the chakra for liver. I did some research about yoga poses to help but didn't find much -- mostly Kundalini yoga stuff, which is a form I'm not familiar with. They did say to do more kapalubati, which I've been drawn to recently (It's the "breath of fire", quite energizing.) THen there's the bij mantra, Ram, which I remember from training one is supposed to chant and then move the energy around with the vowel sounds. But for HCV, do you think I should move the energy toward the third chakra or away? And send it where? Heart? Or lower chakras to ground? Has anyone explored it from this angle?
I do hatha positions that open up the liver, increase blood flow. I'll send you a link. Also visualize healing to liver during savasana, as I'm sure you do. Is your dog pesky during practice? I believe when our body position is lowered to their level. they "perceive" us to be at their level?
I first discovered my hep c, in the deep--body knowledge-way of knowing I was sick, while at a 5 day yoga intensive with Seane Corn 's Off the Mat, Into the World training. In that workshop the team leads you through the chakras and as you practice you learn about the issues of that chakra and how imbalances manifest in the body. Many exercises, alone and with others, including song and dance, discussion and drum circles, are embedded in this training. It is what allowed me to acknowledge something was wrong within me and to face the challenges and lessons of hep c face on. I too read Louise Hayes and others and absolutely know the mind/body/spirit connection.
Liver-- anger issues--- letting go--- you 've gotta be freakin kidding me! didn't I do that in therapy years ago? argh that makes me angry! Its a process..... the body doesn't lie.
my biggest problem right now is lack of funds. I think that would be a third chakra issue. When I think about trying to do anything that costs money, I get a lump in my throat and my eyes start to tear. Hubs got a shut-off notice from ISP last night and told me about it, and he was letting it get him down, so I made a few suggestions, like calling the company, or checking the bill on the website, etc. He thought I was playing "devil's advocate" and taking their side. He was calling them names, which upsets me. Then he turned his frustration on me and asked me why I had to take their side, when I didn't, and why couldn't I just agree with him once in awhile, which I do. Hubs would rather get divorced than try to be nice.
ok, i've been reading and studying this, and have realized a connection between third chakra issues and PTSD. PTSD can be caused by being diagnosed with a life threatening illness. I think having PTSD and borderline personality also go hand in hand often, especially if there is a betrayal issue such as sexual abuse by a relative or caretaker, rape, or other power play. Rape/abuse is not about sex, it's about power. Third chakra imbalance has to do with giving your power away, and having it taken away. Being diagnosed with HCV can definitely take your power and give it to the virus. Part of what this group is about is taking charge of your condition so that you take your power back. We do this by becoming responsible for our own health, reading, and learning everything we can, and sharing what we find with the others here to help them to regain their power. It's one of two ways, either HCV has you, or you have HCV. I prefer the latter. When I was first diagnosed, it felt that HCV had me, and not only HCV but all the people who were ready to take advantage of my fears for personal gain. People scaring me into believing that if I refused to do chemotherapy, I would be dead in 10 years. People telling me treatments were safe, so safe, they would put their grandmother on them. Funny, I never felt like sticking a needle in my arm, then offering it to them, saying, hey, don't worry, there is chemo if you catch something from me.... morbid and raw. Although the thought of doing that in response to such stuff seems only fair.
THanks ev eryone for all the great info! Mak, I agree about power being at the core (I'd been reading for years about liver and anger but that didn't seem right for me). Also interesting about liver and joy, as well as third chakra and shame. Lots to work with.
You feel a general lack of physical energy and vitality resulting in a lackluster will to create.
Your sense of well-being is highly dependent upon external circumstances. So long as everything is going smoothly and to your liking, you feel OK, but when circumstances aren’t to your liking, you feel insecure.
You feel a general lack of confidence in dealing with anything outside your comfort zone.
You believe that money creates security and that there is an amount of money that if attained, would guarantee your security.
You experience any of the following physical symptoms on a frequent or recurring basis: eating disorders, adrenal fatigue, foot and leg pains and injuries, rectal or colon problems, immune disorders or bone disorders.
I have worked in alternative and energy medicine all my life.
My language is different but I always move enrgy back into earth or up into the ethers.
Liver per TCM is the master organ of the body and is worn out from anger is the same manner kidney is worn out from fear.
Recently diagnosed with HCV has prompted me to look again into my past.
Though I rarely feel anger and forgiveness is so easy for me, I must have allowed some old things to remain housed and hidden within me.
Breathing and chanting are good releases and open all the chakras. Move energy away form the heart is how I was taught but I cnage dpending on how I feel. A good way to determine where enrgy lingers is to press the meridian points and see whuch are tender.
Much love
