We've been going to the dog park, and she gets filthy. I use my kids' California Baby, and she smells great, but it's super expensive. She has really sensitive skin.
I was told by my vet not to bath more then once a month and only dog shampoo. I bet if you googled you could find some homemade recipe. Inbetween shampoo's. i brush and comb and that gets alot of stuff out.
That does sometimes take a long time, my male german shepherd is 120# and the female is about 75-80#. I am so glad they know who is boss.
I think if you shampoo too often, they lose valuable skin moisture. My dog's lucky to get bathed once a year, I use the bathtub, but don't fill it: I just give her a shower with a handheld shower spray, and more than that, gets just a soft water shower, no shampoo at all.
