Anyone have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and a positive RA Factor? Anyone actually end up being diagnosed with RA along with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? If so, how was it determined? I have a Hashimoto's and a postive RA factor but negative C Reactive Protein. My rheumy is thinking I have osteoarthritis in my knees but can't rule out RA. Just wondering if there was any way we could really get down to the issue of which arthritis I am dealing with. Wondering if since I have joint effusion(excess fluid) in both knees if maybe the ortho doc drain some fluids they can finally determine it.

I am negative, tested for it, but i've heard you don't need RA antiodies to have it, is that true?

I tested positive for RA Factor. They didn't seem concerned about it. It was when they did tons of bloodwork for the ms before I was diagnosed. I had a great aunt with Juvenile RA. I often have joint problems. I guess osteoarthritis would be the better of the two, not that either is good. I hope you get your answers soon. Keep us posted and good luck.

Hey there, I was diagnosed with R.A in December, and have been suffering for over 4 years from that, but finally got diagnosed. I have not be diagnosed with hashi's ad of yet but I am having my blood re tested on friday. My last thyroidglobulin test was at 87, which is high apparently. But my bone head doctor didnt diagnose me or send me to a specialist for it, nor for my r.a, or pulmonary embolisms which I almost died from, so I don't really trust his word. I'm curious if there is a connection

CS1964.....have you seen a rheumatoid specialist? I think that type of doctor should be able to differentiate between what is truly RA and other things. Good luck to you, this disease is pretty miserable.
